“A week in Paradise”

We booked our vacation with Dream2Travel. We got a great deal and knew we would be required to listen to the high pressure sales pitch to purchase a vacation timeshare. We arrived at the airport in Cancun and tried to get to the private shuttle that was waiting, but got sidetracked by a tourist activity salesperson. My advice is to say No Thanks and scurry on past. Our driver had our name on a sign and we greeted him, he helped with the luggage and were taken straight to the Omni. We checked in, went to our room, looked out the balcony and saw beauty. It was after 10:00 pm so we went down and walked around the different pools and bars to check out the grounds which looked amazing at night. The lobby bar had several people there, so we joined that area and had a few drinks. We read before we left to tip the bartenders, servers and pool servers and you will be glad you did, so we gave him a nice tip. Then we went back to the room and ordered room service. The burgers, fries and a personal pizza arrived and were very good! The next morning up and went to the breakfast buffet. Great selection, hot and cold foods name your own omlets or eggs, coffee great, cream not so much. Now off to the pool (pools). We loved the pool with the chaises in the pool. The pool server came, drinks ordered, delivered and a nice tip given and he treated us like royalty! The dinner buffet changed nightly, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican, etc. it was okay not bad or great. Our server Jose was outstanding and catered to my dislike for the soup and had the chef prepare something different to my surprise. Jose was awesome and we asked for him every evening. That night and the following days, when we walked in a bar or to the pool, we were greeted and treated like movie stars. Now for the 90 minute presentation...they were really nice, not hardcore, but persistent enough to keep lowering the deal. This is not in our budget now, but if we did have the money, it sounds feasible. So after about two hours we shook hands and parted. Back to paradise. Outside the Omni, we took the bus downtown for .85 and the taxi varies some charged 12.00 -15.00 negotiate before you get in. My advice - the bus if not in a hurry. Overall wonderful and we will be going again and bringing more friends and family.

We just got back and id say overall its was an great resort for the money . There was a couple of things that bothered me .
Payless Car Rental - Ripped us off when we were told one price in dollars but they have thier own coversion rate from the rest of Mexico !! and , you guessed it , we were charged 25% more . Avoid PAYLESS CAR RENTAL in the lobby . Always ask what the final cost is in pasos , as they didnt take our Dollars when we offered to pay with them instead .
Also BEST DAY TRAVEL - Purley sell excoursions based on commission , and will tell you that they are giving you the best deal , which is rubbish , as they are all the roughly same . I dont like the way that they think we are stupid.
I talked to the manager and she tried to defend them , to which i replied that because of these venders in the Lobby , that i would Omni responsible for letting these agencies rip-off good paying customers . She said there was nothing she could do , but i told her that there was plenty i would do , starting by letting everbody on Trip Adviser know what happened , and then the corporate offices.
That said , the resort was clean , safe , quiet , staff were great and food was good , maybe could have been a little warmer , but thats buffet food for you ! Great sushi bar !
If you decide to go to Market 28 BE CAREFULL !! I had my wife and 2 kids with me and was offered drugs right in front of them . TheY know no shame ! Stall holders were hounding us sooooo bad that we got out of there a.s.a.p ! Stay with the shops and flea market in the Hotel Zone . The Market 28 is very sketchy and i wouldn't feel safe there , especially at night . BE CAREFULL !

Room Tip: get a room with an Ocean View , pay the extra . Also the higher , the better !

Booked our trip through Costco and we were pleased in pretty much every way. The service was excellent and the staff were very accommodating. We loved our room and had an absolutely stunning view of the ocean.

The reservation restaurants were surprisingly good and the food quality was nearly as good as the atmosphere. Beverages are readily available and the beach and pool bars are fantastic. The only down side was the food quality in the buffet restaurant (yeah, real shocker that the buffet food wasn't great...). We were there 7 days and only ate there twice out of once nine to our schedule.

I can't recommend this place enough for the value. We have paid much, much more for much, much less!

Room Tip: The upgrade to the ocean view was a fantastic choice!

There are three things that truly distinguish this hotel: the ocean view rooms with a balcony, the Pina Colada restaurant with breakfast on the beach, and the staff.

This was our 14th trip to the OMNI Cancun and we had a wonderful time. The OMNI staff were absolutely outstanding and everywhere we went at the OMNI we were greeted with warmth and treated like family for 12 days. The staff turnover is very low so it’s extra special to see old staff friends who actually remember you, your name, and make you feel at home when you vacation at the OMNI.

Even the elevator problems we experienced while we were there were quickly overcome when we found out where the service elevator was!

The rooms are nice, especially the ocean-view ones, and the food is good although for all you food complainers out there get real – steak in Mexico isn’t going to be like what you’re used to in Iowa or somewhere.

We’re looking forward to next November!

Room Tip: Ocean View - My Favorites are Room # 1944, 1945, 1946, and 1947

Had a great time and would go back. The staff and hotel are great. If we had any problems the staff would fix it immediately. The only problem we had and it was our fault was the time of year. We like the beach and in Nov the water is rough. We will go back in a few months when it is calm.

Room Tip: Water view and as high up as possible.

We booked our trip through COSTCO, all inclusive, lagoon view room. 11/20-11/25. The staff was excellent! Best time to travel Thanksgiving week.

we arrived at the airport and greeted by Best Day travel and shuttled quickly to our Hotel. A reservation slip was given to me at that time for the pick up back to the airport. worry free.

All our tours were booked through Best day affliated w/ costco travel located in the hotel we were given complete details of all tours plus discount pricing.

The package included $100 hotel credit wich we used at the spa. A hotel rep was promoting the spa in the lobby when we asked about our costco credit they quickly took us in no reservation required. The spa was amazing the staff was awsome again worry free .

I was never pressured to tip for any services. The staff was always willing to help with any questions about the resort and even the sight seeing/tours.

The timing was perfect for this trip since it was during Thanksgiving week hotel occupancy was low and service was excellent.
The only problems:
-noise from the restuarant across the street. The music was loud on saturday we had to sleep with with balcony door closed.
-we couldnt exchange money a the front desk since we forgot to visit the imigration office at the airport.
- vendors at night by the pool were wayyyy over priced. hotel shops were a better deal.

Things I loved:
- all inclusive
- beach was amazing
- NEW Mayan museum next door
- public transportation ava infront of the hotel along with a Banamex bank and a money exchange booth, wich we used since the hotel wouldnt change our money.

I just came back from spending Thanksgiving Week here and it was great.
The place is kept so nice and the staff cant do enough for its guests. That is how
I feel anyway. There is a variety of food to eat if you dont like the buffet you can
order from the menu. In all hotels people look for tips - especially when they
are paid so little. The hotel is nice and I always go there and enjoy
the beautiful beach.

Room Tip: when you book your trip request an oceanview room - you get what you pay for -
