“Smallish but excellent hotel and beach”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Just returned from 6 great days there. Been to lots of all inclusive resorts and this one had some of the best food for sure. Not for kids under about 14 though as the food was not "basic stuff". The ala carte restaurant that was included in the all inclusive had a lot to choose from and all four of our meals there were delicious. Lunch was really good and you didn't need a reservation. Great ambiance too as it was right next to the beach but shady and lovely. If you want a hot dog or hamburger there is a snack shack. Good drinks too. I had a wonderful chocolate martini every night in the hotel bar. Didn't skimp on alcohol either. We had two room as my husband and I traveled with our 18 and 21 year old kids. Both rooms were nice but loud as we were on the main floor. Great showers and I loved our king bed with good pillows. The beach was AWESOME though. HUGE white sandy area that stretched forever with perfect, clear torquoise water. Medium waves to play in the the water was not cold. Shopping right across the street or hop on a bus for a buck and go further down the strip to more shopping. Great little restaurant about five doors down called Tacum that had super food. Not alot to do for activities and the TV only had 3 channels I think that spoke English but overall it was super relaxing and the waitstaff was very nice.

Room Tip: Main floor is great for convenience but I think if you go up a floor or two it might be quieter.

My only experience at the Flamingo Cancun Resort is that when arrived to take up the reservations we had made 4 months in advance, we were told there was no room for us. We were sent to an absolute dump of a hotel, which the clerk assured us would be of comparable quality. Ha! We are here for only one night to take a flight out tomorrow, but at least one other group was moved here for several days. I'd be very wary of making reservations at the Flamingo Cancun Resort if you can't guarantee that they will honor your reservation.

My sister and I stayed here for a week over Spring Break. The hotel is nice and clean. Everyone that worked here was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful! It was so different than any other hotel we've stayed at. We did the all inclusive option and will do it again in the future.

Rooms
-We had a room with a balcony overlooking the ocean. Room 517. I've read that some people get signal on the fifth floor since it's free on the sixth, however, we didn't experience this. The room was very clean though and the maids did a great job each day. The only issue was that the tv didn't work for the first few days. We didn't bother complaining about it though and it randomly started working again so that was nice! We didn't hear people in other rooms or anything. However on our last night, some kids were in the pool directly below our balcony and we could hear them well. All in all, the beds were comfy, view was great, had enough room for two people.

Location
-Perfect! It's truly the best location. In front of the hotel are 2 bus stops, one going north and the other going south. Directly across the street is a "Cl Banco" which is an exchange house. Meaning you can exchange your money for a pretty good rate and not have to pay any fees. In front of the

Food
-There are two restaurants and one snack bar inside the pool. They offer buffet food from 7am to 11pm and it was good. There isn't a huge variety, but I had no problem eating plenty! The other restaurant has the same buffet except for dinner. You have to make a reservation before 3pm and you can eat dinner choosing from a menu. They have a large variety on the menu and it was unbelievably good!! Both restaurants are set up beautifully and don't look like any old hotel restaurant.

Beach and pool
-We didn't use the pool at all since the beach is so warm. The chairs in both areas did fill up fast, however the beach area wasn't busy at all. The beach was gorgeous and clean. There were lifeguards all over so that was nice. There are even flags posted to let you know if the waves are too big. Very safe beach.

Staff
- The staff at the front desk was very helpful when we needed directions or help with something. Ricardo was especially helpful!

Lomas Travel Agency in the hotel
-The travel agency within our hotel took care of all of our weekly plans and what a great job they did! We were told by the other agencies that we got a great price through them. Diego was super nice and explained and planned everything for us.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony.

This place is definitely not a "resort" and the per-day All-Inclusive price does not match the amenities, meals, etc. I do not recommend this place if you are claustrophobic as there really is no so-called "open-concept". Beware that many of the rooms are very noisy and the gym equipment needs repair (some even have rust). There is a communication problem among the staff to confirm the services, room availability, towel availability, etc. We are open-minded when we travel to different countries and don´t mind small hotels, no elevators, no air conditioning and the like. But we expected at least some sense of being in a "resort". Fortunately, we only booked a few days here and spent a great week at an actual resort where the AI fee was well worth it.

Room Tip: Definitely not too close to the pool and best to face the beach.

I will start off saying it you're looking for a place that brings you drinks on the beach or a buffet to wow you over.stay elsewhere. It's a place that makes quite the effort to cater to the non English speaking crowd first. And I don't mean that in a bad way. They have one non buffet restaurant and its very good place to grab lunch. The rooms do look like the pictures but would suggest you getting a room that doesn't face the street if you're a light sleeper. The staff is very nice especially the valet personal. As far as the location, this place really stands out

Just went at the end of Feb 2014, the hotel itself is on the small side and I wasn't really sure what to expect.... It is nice and clean, hotel staff are accommodating and upgraded us to an ocean view room free of cost which was amazing. The view we had was great, the room was big, beds we're comfy and clean and nice and cold. AC was never a problem!
The beach was amazing, beautiful location! Only problem was securing beach chairs which had to be done early on or not at all. There were too few chairs available.
The food was mediocre; not a great variety at the snack bar (you had choice of burgers, fries and nachos daily, nothing else). My only complaint is the "swim up bar" left something to be desired... Almost non existent. The buffet at breakfast was always good, lots to choose from, fresh fruits and omelette made on the spot. The restaurant where you make reservations also was not really my cup of tea; portions were extremely small and as a result I had an appetizer, 2 entrees, AND dessert (this never happens as I am rather petite and don't eat that much).
My other complaint is the bar in the lounge area closes at midnight, there is no entertainment at all and no disco! I have never seen that before. We ended up hopping on the bus for 1$ and went downtown for nightlife (would definitely recommend coco bongo despite the price and señor frogs!)
Overall, the hotel itself was nice and clean but the lack of amenities would not make me return.

I would like to say that the staff was very friendly and worked really hard to ensure that everything was running great. The place is a bit dated, but there people painting and fixing walls, which shows that they care for the appearance. We did all inclusive, but we found that the food was pretty much the same everyday. No much change. The beach was nice and clean. It was affordable and that is why we went.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room facing the main street. You do get a view and it can be loud.
