“Le Blanc visit the second time”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

This was our second visit to Le Blanc. We visited when the hotel first opened. We enjoyed the new services including the butler and room service. The restaurants were very accommodating and would serve special request dishes. It was a very peaceful and relaxing environment. All of the staff were very friendly and wanted to provide anything to make you comfortable. Food is never perfect but we felt the resort really tried to please and the food was always fresh. The pool service was prompt and friendly. Each day they made a special lunch such as Pailla and shish kabobs. The international buffet at breakfast and lunch always had many choices. There was food available whenever you wanted it. We felt the French restaurant was the best. Our waiters were very detailed with descriptions of dishes and were helpful with our choices. The room service was quick and servers were always gracious. Our butlers were wonderful to get us reservations and to prepare a bath. The credits weren't that useful. We did get a couples massage and used some of the points for that. The spa is pricey but worth it. We also upgraded wine a few nights even though the house wines were enjoyable. Our hotel room was clean and modern. We had a large double shower. The first night we mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and were surprised with a bottle of champagne and a "honeymoon" cake. It was a very nice gesture. We kept the balcony door open at night an enjoyed the calm and roll of the ocean. It was a great experience. I would recommend it and definitely will come back.

Room Tip: We asked for a higher level and it was quiet and good view. The first visit we had a pool and ocean...

We were particularly enamored with the Le Blanc, a very relaxing week.
So much that we purchased a VIP Platinum Membership so we will be guests in a few of Palace Resorts.
Service is 1st Class - everywhere at Le Blanc.
We tried all the restaurants but unlike others, our favorite was the International for dinner.
Buffet breakfast omelets fantastic, prawns & white clams for lunch can not be topped.
We had a really good time, drank like fish & enjoyed the Honeymoon Suite #301, nice view over the pool & ocean.
We even walked to the shops down the street & stopped for drinks & pizza at the Beach Palace on our return.
1 small piece of advice - swim trunks, shorts / sun dresses are the rule.
Do not overpack, totally unnecessary.

This was our second visit to Le Blanc, the first was five years ago when they were pumping sand from the ocean to redo the beach after the hurricane. However, the results are amazing. they now possess a wonderful beach area with no shortage of loungers and umbrellas. The ocean is wonderful for swimming but on windy days it got a little rough for my liking.
My wife and I spent the first week of our vacation at Playacar Palace, so we were able to enjoy the wonderful service of Ramon as he transported us from Playacar to Le Blanc. Upon arrival we were greeted by Raoul who took care of our luggage and by our concierge Roger, who we had worked with before our arrival setting up spa reservations, dinner arrangements and our afternoon on "Impulsive". The service you receive at Le Blanc is exceptional, from our floor butlers Fernando & Tomas, to Isabel who will make you a wonderful omelette at the morning buffet to the service of Nidelfia with her incredible smile. The pools and hot tub areas are clean and well managed and the noon specials at the snack shack are delicious. We especially enjoyed lounging around the pool on the third floor where Edgar and Rafael took care of all our needs. Exceptional service and the pizzas they create are amazing.
We enjoyed the Italian and Oriental restaurants as the food was good and the wait staff a ton of fun. The French restaurant was somewhat disappointing as it was a little to serious for me and the food was not as impressive as I understood it to be.
The highlight was the quests that we met and shared time with. Meeting new people and becoming friends is always special.
Overall, a great experience and we will go back in the future.

Room Tip: Our room faced the ocean, but it would not bother me to face the lagoon s the sunsets over the lagoo...

I have been reviewing hotels/resorts for years on tripadvisor. I have to say I am shocked how well Le Blanc does on reviews. Perhaps it is in part related to the lack of travel experience involved with those going to Cancun. Nonetheless, we just returned from a four day stay at Le Blanc celebrating a good friend's 40th birthday. We are not big fans of a Cancun type trip so take this review with that statement in mind. The service was excellent. The staff does an excellent job waiting on you. The restaurants were average. The food was just not that good and I am not really a person consumed with critiquing food. The rooms were average. The place was clean but the hotel does need more than a little renovation. For example, the bathtubs in the hotel rooms are very old and loud. Overall, it was difficult to get a good night sleep because of all the noises emanating from the hallway. We were traveling with several other couples and they mentioned the same thing -- odd noises throughout the night. No balcony expect on the top floor. Seriously, who builds a hotel on the beach without a balcony and charges these prices. The pickup from airport, which was supposed to be stress free was anything but stress free. Although I am not sure how you could ever make the experience at the arrival hall at Cancun's airport stress free. The check in was seamless until we were taken to a guy that asked us to speak with him about a time share and in return he could activate our resort credit. Of course that is not acceptable. I do not see anywhere on our confirmation that the resort credit was dependent upon sitting down and wasting vacation time to hear about buying in to a place I had no intention of coming back to. Very disappointing a resort like Le Blanc would try something like this. Although I refused to sit down and have the talk the resort credit was still on the tab. All in all the staff has done an excellent job with what they have to work with. But again, I have no idea how this hotel gets such excellent reviews. People -- it is time to expand your vacation experience. Go stay at the Four Seasons in Jackson Hole, Nayara Hotel in Costa Rica, or the Grand Del Mar in San Diego before you go back to Le Blanc, in order to get perspective on a truly outstanding hotel.

Room Tip: Top floor so you can have a balcony

We spent the week of February 15 to the 22nd at Le Blanc and defiantly would go back again! So much about the resort exceeded all of our expectations and I will outline them below, BUT, the food experience brought the resort down from a 5 rating to a 4. First the good news
1. Checking in was excellent, timely and offered an upgraded room that was awesome.
2. The Room we upgraded to was a junior suite, room 826. It had a walk out balcony which if you can get one is well worth it. Our balcony faced away from the ocean and initially we were disappointed that it didn't face the ocean, HOWEVER, we were so wrong. Watching the sunset each night was so awesome that we soon found it no loss not to see the ocean. The room was always spotless, great bathroom and comfy bed all made the room a 5 plus.
3. Service everywhere (with one exception I will detail below) was beyond great. Beach service was extraordinary, Mayra generally served us and there could not be a better server. Look for her and I guarantee you will feel pampered. Isaac, the manager of the Italian Restaurant took such good care of all of his clients, he should have ownership in the place! Arnando in the buffet, messed up on our order, and recovered so well that he has to be mentioned as well.
4. The beach is wonderful, no trash floating as we have had at other resorts. Great sand, good body surfing and food brought to the lounges was great.
5. Check out was easy and no surprises on the bill!
Now, the bad news..
1. In general all four restaurants menu was unimaginative, never changed and main courses were a challenge for them to prepare correctly.
2. The restaurant that was hyped was being the best was actually the worst. Worst service (The only place on the resort that sucked), worst menu, worst food preparation. How bad you ask, well bad enough we walked out halfway through, and I still don't think our waiter noticed!
3. The spa is very nice, but priced much higher than other similar grade properties.
1. The view of the bay isn't bad, and especially nice if you have a walk out balcony.
2. Drinks are generally served with lower grade products, BUT if you ask for a drink brand by name the serve it without hesitation.
3. While the menus are limited, don't be afraid to ask for something not on the menu. Want a pizza, ask and they will make one. I wanted a shrimp cocktail and they gladly made on of the best I have ever tasted.
4. Take a taxi for $36 dollars, its much better than the shuttles.

We really had the most amazing time at Le Blanc and for the first time in a long time we said we wouldn't mind coming back to the same place!! Sorry for the detailed review below but thought it was easier to separate all the info out.

Food and Drink: (Always important!)
The food for an all inclusive resort was fantastic. You could eat or drink at any time! Breakfast were great - buffet in the International Restaurant or al carte upstairs in the little pizzeria. We did both for a bit of variety. Isabel the breakfast "egg lady" makes wonderful omelettes (normal or egg white ones) and poached eggs - and everything came with the biggest smile from her! I couldn't understand why people mentioned that they tipped her but even I couldn't help tip her every couple of days!! You could have pretty much whatever you wanted - cereals, fruit, eggs, french bread, yogurt, waffles, pancakes and the list goes on and on. Lunch was either a BBQ by the pool, pizzeria, or buffet at the International. Again the buffet at lunch was just great - steaks, chicken, burgers, fajitas, seafood etc etc. Dinner was a choice of oriental, italian, french and mexican/steakhouse and all pretty good. We had some great meals and some not so great dinners - the food at the italian was often quite salty but having said that we also had our best dinner there as well. The waiters/waitresses in the main were efficient and very friendly - sometimes service was a little slow when they were busy but we weren't in any hurry at any time so it was no problem.
The bars were really well stocked - the spirits were all big name brands and you could have as much or as little as you like. There was a good selection and we always used our resort credits to upgrade the wine - try the Washington State reds - they were amazing. Dulce in the lobby bar made sure we were always served as we walked up to the bar and kept our glasses topped up throughout our visit there each night.

We were really lucky and got upgraded to one of the jacuzzi rooms on the ground floor with a great view across the pool area and down to the beach. The rooms were kept really clean and had a fully stocked fridge and mini bar which was re-stocked everyday. Couldnt believe the "mini" bar we had there - bottles of gin, jack daniels, whisky and vodka which you could have replaced with your favourite tipple if those weren't yours. Many people complained that the Bulgari toiletries weren't replenished but ours always were - once we had finished them! The bed was so comfortable - pillows were divine. Aromatherapy in the room was available but we didn't use it. We really didn't use our butlers - didn't feel the need to use them - but they were always checking that we were OK and didn't need anything else. Alex was very attentive and we couldn't have asked for more; unfortunately the one day we did try to use the butlers Alex wasn't there and our request (to phone our travel agent for confirmation of leaving time) wasn't followed through but it wasn't a big deal - we did it ourselves.

Pool and Beach:
The pools (one on the main floor, one by the lagoon, and one on the 3rd floor) were kept heated so it was never very cold getting in - made it difficult to get out though!! Chairs by the pool were busy but we always managed to find some and there were always shade when we needed it. The pool bars were very well managed - mimosas at 10.00am seemed a bit decadent but fast became a daily habit!! The cocktails were very good as well -strawberry daiquiris, mojitos, pina coladas - you name it they would make it! Laura and Lucinda always made sure we had an ice bucket and water and kept them topped up all day. They brought around cucumber for your eyes and cold flannels on a regular basis - it was bliss. They were the hardest working people I have ever met and so lovely with it and had a wonderful cheeky sense of humour - laughing at my other half trying to put up the shade and then quickly flicked it up! Mayra and the others who serve you drinks and food at your chair were always very efficient and hardworking - you never went without having a drink by your side. At lunchtime they would also bring you food if you wanted it. We spent the mornings at the main pool overlooking the beach (busy side!) but then you lose the sun about 2pm so we wandered over to the lagoon pool for the afternoon sun (and to check out the crocodiles in the lagoon and the iguana couple by the chess set!!)
The beach was extremely clean, the water was so warm! I haven't seen a beach like it for a very long time - white white sand and beautiful turquoise waters. There were loungers readily available, cabanas for hire (you can use your resort credits for these) and you get all the same service on the beach as you do at the pool - water, ice buckets, drinks and food brought to you if you need it.

It is true that this is a quiet hotel but that's what we were looking for so it met all of our requirements in that way! Every night there is something in the lounge bar (upstairs on the third floor) - magic show, Michael Jackson tribute, DJ etc but it's pretty low key. The lounge bar was always busy though and we did have some pretty late nights there! On Thursdays while we were there was a fire show by the lagoon pool.

We used our resort credits to go to Chichen Itsa and Tulum. both trips were pretty good although it is true that the Chichen Itsa trip is drawn out with toilet stops (the toilets are extremely clean throughout the tours!!), shopping at a Mayan tourist shopping place before you even get to Chichen Itsa but the site itself is fascinating. Lunch was very average but I think we may have been spoilt by the food at Le Blanc! Tulum again was good but also included a shopping experience (no lunch so take money or take something from the hotel). Also neither trip included drinks so again I would recommend you take something from the hotel.
Cancun town is an easy bus ride away (buses come every couple of minutes and cost about 10pesos).

Spa & Beauty Parlour:
I used the spa and beauty several times (using resort credits) - Claudia gave me the most wonderful manicures and hand/arm massages. The hot stone massage was very relaxing; in fact the whole spa is relaxing!! We couldn't have a late checkout as the hotel was full but we were allowed to use the showers in the spa before going to the airport. The showers and bathrooms were fully kitted out with toiletries (deodorant, toothbrush/paste, moisturiser, shower gel, shampoo etc) and hairdryers so it wasn't a problem not having our room.

We really weren't sure about whether to tip or not as the advice on tripadvisor is inconsistent. We took pesos (we're form the UK so had to change money anyway) on the advice of our currency exchange service as the Government in Mexico is imposing significant charges for the Mexicans to exchange US$. This apparently is to try and keep the peso in circulation. To be honest the staff didn't mind either. We tipped all the staff every couple of times we "used" their services but they were all so good I don't think the service we received would have suffered if we hadn't. We also left 100 pesos every day for the housekeeping staff. We found ourselves wanting to tip for the first time ever - the service really is great!

All the staff were great but special mention must go to:
Isabel - the "Egg Lady"
Dulce - Lobby Bar
Alex - Butler
Laura & Lucinda - pool helpers
Mayra & Reyna - waiting staff around the pool
Claudia - beauty parlour
They were brilliant!!

We just spent a very enjoyable and relaxing week at Le Blanc, Feb. 11-18. The only reason I'm not rating it with a 5 is because of the food and the noise at night.

The food is probably good compared to most all-inclusives. But for a couple of "foodies" it was disappointing. The menus don't explain the dishes very well, so sometimes we just didn't get what we expected. The seafood was consistently over cooked and very salty. A major problem is the chef's experimentation with molecular cooking - especially in the French restaraunt - terrible results! We ate at the French restaurant a couple of times and that was our least favorite. My husband liked the Oriental best, but I didn't like it at all. The Italian was OK, although it had some special bread, which was really good. My favorite food came off the breakfast and lunch buffets and the 3rd floor had good pizza. There was a special dinner prepared by the executive chef right in front of us, matched with wines that the sommelier explained. That was tasty and a lot of fun.

I have to say that we've done an all-inclusive river cruise in France and the food was incomparably better there.

The service is great! We were on the 5th floor and both butlers did a great job. Well, with the exception of the night butler who said he would make dinner reservations for us, but didn't. The day butler did it the next day and promptly. The service at the restaurants and bars was great. Major kudos to the beach staff who walk back and forth on that big beach with drinks and food, but always act like they wouldn't want to do anything else! We did tip each time we were served...don't know how much that was in our favor, but they deserve it.

We were in 520, just a Royale Deluxe with a partial ocean view. The room was nice and always kept clean. Our mini bar and toiletries were always replenished. The rooms surround an open atrium, so sounds really seemed loud and echoed throughout. We kept our doors open to the outside, so the ocean covered up a lot of inside noise. For those traveling anytime soon: there is construction on that side of the building and they work all day and into the evening, so it's noisy. They even worked part of the time on Sat. and Sun.

We didn't spend a lot of time in the spa, but it is super. We did the complimentary mani, pedi, back massage, and hydrotherapy. But they separate the men and women for hydrotherapy, so doing it alone was kind of boring. If you like to spend a lot of time soaking the the tub, the hydrotherapy would be your dream!

The very best part for us...the beach! What a fabulous beach they have! Even though the hotel was filled up, the beach never felt crowded and there were plenty of loungers and umbrellas. We didn't have to do anything but swim, walk the beach, and relax. We always had anything we wanted to drink and they will take your lunch order and bring it right to your lounger. The only complaint is that the beach loungers are not very comfortable. The ones but the pool have nice cushions, but I understand why they wouldn't want sand and salt water all over them. They will bring a pillow to strap on the back for you and that helps.

Since we were there a week, we had $1500. We used $400 of it for the special dinner I mentioned above. With paying %16 tax, that was a decent price. But for the most part, items are priced so ridiculously high that by the time you pay the tax, you spend what you might spend on the item or service anyway. When we first arrived they sat us down to talk about credits and we did feel some pressure to use them. But once we got through that initial push, they never bugged us again.

Room Tip: Partial ocean view room view the lagoon in one direction and the ocean in another, which is nice. Bu...
