It's just easier to talk of the pros and cons of this hotel.

Pros: Good food (but not amazing), friendly staff, good price

Negatives: rooms are honestly old and not that attractive. The "views" are poor as most of the higher rooms you can only see sky. The lack of a balcony is kind of a bummer if you get a room like that, so make sure you ask for a balcony/jacuzzi room. The jacuzzi room is actually great! The pool area is LOUD. We kind of hung out at the beach the whole time, so it's avoidable. They bring you the drinks to the beach.

Tips:
1. Get a jacuzzi room (or balcony at the minimum).
2. Do mexican night at Las Fuentes
3. Lounge at the beach for quiet time.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi room, jacuzzi room, jacuzzi room. At least a balcony room. Worth the upgrade and remember...

We just returned from a 4 night stay at this resort. We are 53 & 55 and my mother is 76. The hotel is NOT senior friendly at all. She was forced to walk down stairs to get to most areas at the hotel. There were a few steep ramps she could have used however; they were out of the way. There were numerous pools for the guests to use but only 1 pool had a set of stairs for access by a senior citizen. No railings either to hold on to to climb out of the pools anywhere. The access to most of the pools was right into 3 feet of water with no step down. No rails for safety. The pool area had no other options for seating except for the lounge style chairs that are not easy to get out of even for my husband and myself. I had to go around a take straight back chairs from the poolside activities desk in order for my mom and husband to sit comfortably near the pool. The pressure to take a tour and buy into their timeshare program was very strong and you were constantly dodging the sales staff. After a day of this we finally resorted to lying to the staff and telling them we had taken the tour to get them off our backs. Even at that we still had to engage them every few hours to tell our lie. It took some of the joy out of sitting and relaxing by having to look over your shoulder for sales staff and then telling them no thanks. The front desk is not consistent with pricing for shuttles to the airport - it ranged within an 6 dollar spread on an hourly/daily basis. Monday it was 12 dollars then it went to $15.50 then back down to $9.33 to $14.00. This was in one conversation. We eventually received $3 back upon complaining about the rates. It was explained that the exchange rate determined the rate ? The wait staff in the buffet areas were great! Helpful and polite. Food choices were available most times. Do not stay at this hotel if you have any difficulty climbing stairs and are not interested in buying in to their time share program. The evening shows were great.

Room Tip: Try for a room on the upper floors away from the lobby noise. Rooms above the 5th floor are the best...

We read all of the reviews before choosing Royal Solaris and it was exactly as expected. The staff and service was great, pool and beach were outstanding, food and rooms were average. We went with our young children and didn't want to spend a lot of money and got exactly what we wanted. You get a lot for an all- inclusive: great drinks, entertainment, AMAZING kids club, Marco Polo restaurant and wonderful service. You get what you pay for, but the views make it all worth it. They are currently renovating the rooms which will be a great improvement. The GR Solaris next door has nicer rooms but is quieter with a smaller pool. I would recommend this hotel to families who want to relax and not spend a fortune.

Room Tip: Wait until renovations are complete.

We had good time at Royal Solaris Cancun. We are glad we chose All Includsive for our first trip Cancun. It is the easiest way to go. Plus they offered upgrade to Ocean View room for free as a gift for our anniversary.
Our 14 year son love the pool and enjoyed playing water volleyball with adults. There is one buffer for breakfast, one buffee for lunch but three options for dinner ( one buffer, two as restranaunts), also there is a snack bar on pool side offering burgers. Buffee is OK, we are tired eating similar thing everyday, but we love restranaunt Marco Polo who offers 4 court formal dinner only, everyday is different. We eat Italian food, French food and Fusion food nights.pls note they do require pant for men.The staffs are very nice, Nailea greet us as old friend everyday for breakfast and lunch.
The show at night is free and different everyday. Monday is Mexico show, I would say it is professional. Other shows are OK. We tried kayat on lagoon side across the street from hotel, it is free but speed boad need pay. In the afternoon is less crowed, we paid for 30 minute speed boad to see sting ray. There was not a lot to see, but still fun.
The city bus is just outside the hotel taking you to everywhere in hotel zone. We took R1 to Wet & Wild center for swim with dolphin, paid peco 8.5 per person instead of 130 for tax. We took R2 to Market 28. It was a little long ride but pleasant in bus with air condition on. Both buses also go to Aqua Center for Jungle Tour, ect.
The hotel is 3 star. The bathroom is old, with no vantilation. But based on te money we paid, it is really good for all inclusive. The Internet is not offered in public area and the connection is bad, we were offered for free Internet but the server was broken for two days. As there are so much to do, we don't really need Internet.
We would definitely go back next year.

Room Tip: Ocean view room is definitely better than Lagoon view room. It is worth $30 for upgrade.

I read numerous reviews before going on this trip to Cancun and I must admit I was a little nervous of what the hotel might be like. However, we went on a timeshare preview deal and got an EXCCELLENT price so we decided to give it a shot. For this trip it was just the two of us, we did not bring the kids along.
The Cancun airport was not nearly like I expected. We departed the plane, went to baggage claim, got our bags, went through security, pushed the button to see if our bags would be searched, got a green light, and off through the airport we went. There was some shouts to us from people wanting us to "sign up for their tour" or take their taxi, but nothing worse than walking through the cruise terminal in the Bahamas. We walked all the way through the terminal outside and found our previously arranged transportation without a problem.
It was about a 15 minute ride to Royal Solaris from the airport. Upon arriving at the hotel a bellman quickly took our bags and gave us a claim ticket telling us to come let him know our room number when we had one assigned and he would take our bags up. The front desk and lobby area were pretty. We went to the main front desk to check-in and were instantly asked to go to the "Royal Solaris Club" area since we were there for a special promotion. When we walked into the club area we were immediately asked if we wanted a beverage and introduced to our timeshare sales representative Andres. Andres was extremely polite and professional. He got us all checked in and told us a little about the property hurrying along with it all once we told him we were starving and ready to eat soemthing. he set up a timeshare preview appointment and made arrangements for us to enjoy a night in downtown Cancun with the other "members". Off to tell the bellman our room and get this vacation started.
I had looked at pictures of the rooms so I had an idea of what to expect. The room was large, with a breathtaking view of the ocean (thank you Andres), tile flooring, plain hotel type furniture, a dated bedspread, and a small, but nice enough bathroom with a completely tile shower. Not a terrible hotel room, but not a luxurious one either. It was fine.
We went down to the ocean front tikki hut type buffet restaurant where we enjoyed our first all-inclusive meal complete with wine for me and frozen drink for the hubby. The food was not 5 star foodie, but we both thought it was good. And the view was stunning! The restaurant looks over the huge pool and the beach and is a really neat style. The sit down restaurant where we ate everynight was pretty good too. It is classy inside and the food selection was small but good. The first night I ordered something but did not like it and the waiter happily brought me something else. There is also an indoor buffet where we ate breakfast each morning with cooked to order eggs, omeletts, pancakes, cereals, etc. We definately did not go hungry! The service was ALWAYS impecable. The people who work at this resort are nice, polite, friendly, helpful, and always willing to get you something you ask for. The bartenders inside were friendly and accomodating and the bartenders outside made sure you always had something to drink!
Not only are all the employees at this resort wonderful, but the place is so clean! Each morning the pool was cleaned before most guests were awake. The pool chairs and concrete surrounding the pool was also scrubbed. The room was always cleaned well each day with towel creations made during our stay and all common areas were extremely neat.
The day of the dreaded timeshare preview I worried about how long it would take and how much pressure they would put on us to buy. We met Andres in the lobby and started our questionaire with him. He was wonderful and friendly and NOT pushy! After the questions we went with Andres to view a few "member" suites at the hotel that were quite fabulous. We also walked to the neighboring "Caribe" tower and LOVED the rooms we saw there. We came back to the timeshare office and talked money with Andres, then with his supervisor, and then with his supervisor. No one we spoke to were pushy or ever anything but the upmost polite, however, neither were we. We complimented the resort and our experience there and kept a smile on our face while we maintained we were not interested in joining their club. (However, it IS tempting to stay in one of those Caribe tower rooms!)
In closing, we had a great vacation for an amazing price and would do it all over again 100 times over. Yes, the room we were assigned could have been better, but with the beautiful ocean and a fun pool that always had something going on, who would spend the whole week in their room? We loved the staff, enjoyed Cancun, and did not leave hungry!

PS, take the local bus if you want to go to the flea market or downtown. It's $1 uS each person each way and it got us exactly where we wanted to go safely. We were NEVER scared or flet threatened during our vacation.

Room Tip: We had an ocean front room and it was gorgeous. If I go back I will request to stay in the Caribe t...

Excellent service! Clean and beautiful! Thank you Jorge for being the best host and taking care of all our needs! All staff aim to please! A great week! We took 6 adults 26,30 and 60 and two grand kids and we all had a fantastic time! The children are 5 and 23 mon. and had a wonderful time at the Kiddie Pool and didn't want to leave! The 5 year old enjoyed the special activities just for kids and we felt very comfortable, as she did, leaving her there while we enjoyed the beach. Our room was beautiful on the 6th floor and we enjoyed our balcony facing the ocean! It was cleaned with care and visited and refreshed twice a day! We will definitely plan on returning! Also being a member entitles us to many benefits including a day long excursion for all the family and transportation and food are all included. Also dinner out in town was a treat and lots of fun for the family at Carlos and Charlie's!

Room Tip: We love the Caribe Tower! The 6th floor was quieter than others we have stayed on!
