I enjoyed my 1 week stay at the Royal Solaris, November 2-9, 2012. Some areas of the hotel could use some updating but it was clean and well-cared for. We chose dinner at the Marco Polo restaurant every night, rather than eat at the noisey buffet. Staff at both the hotel and the restaurant were great - friendly and very helpful. Upon our arrival we were told there was no free Wi-Fi but my friend said they should update their website so they gave it to her for free. When using one of the hotel computers to check my email (US$5 for 15 min.) it was slow and sometimes froze so it took a long time to send a short message. The food at the buffet was ok - meats and fish were overcooked and some hot dishes not kept as hot as they should, but there was lots of choice. They have several pools and lots of lounge chairs. I enjoyed walks along the beautiful beach. A trip to the upscale mall is less than 10 minutes by bus. All-in-all it was a pleasant holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

I enjoyed my time at the Royal Solaris. The property for the most part was clean. The staff were very nice. When I booked the room it stated there was free Wi-Fi. Upon my arrival I was told they changed the policy about a week prior. Its kinda pricey so I just bought time on the computer in the business center. The food was ok. Kind of a roll of the dice for dinner. The snack bar by the pool had better food to me. The beds were average. The property sits south on the hotel zone so I think its a good place for families. The public bus picks you up outside the hotel so travel to the shopping areas is about a 15 minute ride north. ( $0.85 USD)

Hotel is quiet and away from a lot of the main shops and restaurants. Nothing fancy or extravagant but is affordable and peaceful. The food is OK with 4 or 5 restaraunts on site, the one on the beach is really good. The ocean on this end of Cancun has very rough water, it is on the end of the island and is not in walking distance of shops and other night time activities but Cancun has excellent and cheap bus service that runs up and down the Hotel Zone frequently. You'll never wait more than a coiple minutes for a bus. My wife and I have stayed here 3 times and enjoyed it.

Sara and Jesus from the team at the Royal Solaris made are trip enjoyable and safe. I fell down the stairs one evening and cut my leg and the restaurant manager Jesus, of the Marco Polo, had a medic take care of me as quickly as possible. The extra attention I received by a very cute medic made the accident not as bad. LOL The staff goes that extra mile to make sure your trip is pleasant and fun. Will definitely stay there again. Just wish there were food choices.

This was the most wonderful travel experience to date!!! The Staff beginning with Susy, paved the way for our relaxing, exciting, and week of continuous fun. The grounds.... gorgeous! The facilities... relaxing quaint... very authentic! Lot's of opportunity to make new life long friends. Some of our favorite wait staff were Abigail, Fabian, Susy and Miguel! Entertainment, food, room, great value.

Room Tip: Low Season Great Time! Going in October was not only our best opportunity but our anniversary!!

The Marco Polo restaurant has the best food (fancy flaming coffee!) and you can't beat 5 course dinners with all the wine/cocktails you would like. The lobby ambiance and outdated fixtures make the hotel seem a bit old. Was clean and good value for money (all inclusive drinks and food--you'll never go hungry and keep quite a buzz if you like...). Excellent customer service with friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to keep you happy.
Is definitely not one of the more modern and fancy/expensive hotels which would probably make it good for families. Pools were comfortable and the entire resort felt very safe. WIFI is an extra $15/day but it felt good to be unplugged for a few. The evening shows are not the best entertainment but amusing at least. The only annoying thing were the entertainment staff at the pool who talk into a microphone all day long with their drinking games and nightclub promotions...

Room Tip: odd numbered rooms are on the lagoon side...even numbered rooms view the ocean. we were on the 7th...
