These are small Mayan ruins located on Kulkulkan Blvd. The admission does not cost very much and it is a self guided tour. If you don't want to take an all day tour to Mayan ruins located far away, thus is a good substitute. Friendly Iguanas will pose for photographs , especially if you bring bananas to toss to them

If you just want to see a little part of the local history go here if you are staying on the hotel strip . The bus leaves you off rite in front of the door just about , and the cost was $5.00 to get in .
I have taken my grandchildren here since we have been in Cancun over 20 times and they enjoyed running thru the ruins and we gave them some history at the same time ..Oh... a LOT or Iguanas sun there so bring your cameras

We are on a mission to see as many Mayan sites as possible in our tours of Mexico. This one happened to be within a few min walk from our hotel. It is only a couple of dollars for the entrance fee. When we arrived the grounds were empty, we had the place to explore all to our selves. I read the signs and the informational plaques but wish there were knowledgeable guides to offer in depth tours. This is such an interesting and important place...but without someone to really bring the ruins to life, it is just a pile of rocks. I do however recommend seeing the site. Climb the ruins and take some great pictures. Bring bottled water and be careful crossing the street to get there!

The El Rey ruins are in the "hotel zone" right across from Playa Delfines (check that out too). It was a nice break from crowds and pressure to buy souvenirs. You don't think of the immediate area having such history but its really amazing. I was there in the morning and almost had the place to myself. Just a few other tourists and lots of iguanas. Watch out for the iguanas, they sit very still and you might trip over one- they blend into the rocks! At the top of one of the monuments - you can climb on them here- you can see some of the hotels- surreal.
