“Excellent place for the price”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

After reading so many negative reviews, I was a little nervous for our group of 5 to arrive on Labor Day weekend. You get what you pay for. We are all parents, looking for a nice get-a-way from our kids, & of course not spend a lot of money. We absolutely loved this place!! So perfect for us! Definitely not the nicest looking place but room was good & staff was awesome! My favorite was our pool bartender Jose!! Nicest guy ever & made some great bloody Mary's! Food was ok:( but I'm picky.......the other 4 I was with liked it! There is an AWESOME taco stand across the street, for those late nite after the bar taco cravings!! Bus stop was really close & was not a long ride to busy downtown area! The lobby was the only place you could get wireless. I can't wait to go back to aquamarina next August!

We were worried about staying here after all the negative reviews but there was no need. Yes it isn't a 5 star resort but it is very pleasant, clean and the staff couldn't do enough to look after us. we had a lovely room with balcony overlooking the bay - my husband had requested a fridge as he is diabetic but despite not being full we were not able to be upgraded to one of these without paying a considerable amount more - they agreed to keep his insulin in the fridge though. The bar staff were very friendly, the entertainment staff were also friendly and attentive and great with the children so much energy they had! The food was fine, plenty of choice and not all spicy so fussy veggie and children were happy too :-) Location is ok, its a bit of a bus ride into the centre of cancun but doesn't cost much and the buses go from right outside the hotel so easy and to be in the centre would have been pretty noisy so not a bad place to be. The hotel is right on the beach which is great for nice walks. The comedy night was excellent. I would recommend this, especially for families. We felt very safe. Although we were the only people from England in the hotel, there were some Scottish and many other nationalities, our children made friends with some Mexican children and were learning Spanish whilst teaching them English. The balloon fight was fun! The rooms were clean, with air-conditioning and we could get hot water it just took a little working out - would return and recommend this place thank you for a great holiday!

We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks in July 2013, travelling with our disabled son 21 years old. Forget all the bad reviews, hotel is very clean, cleaning staff do a great job everyday. All the staff are very helpful indeed. Hotel has ramps everywhere for wheelchair access.
Back of the Hotel leads straight to the beach, where all the water-sports can be done, like Jet-ski-ing and para-sailing.
There is a great choice of cocktails is well at the pool bar, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We were all vegetarian. Whilst there is a good choice of breakfast in the mornings, evening dinner for vegetarians can lack choice. We therefore spoke to kitchen staff, who were happy to cook different veg dishes for us everyday, could not really ask for more! Also snack bar is open from approx 11 am to 6pm, making nachos, burgers, chips etc. All-inclusive package was therefore well worth it..
There is also an entertainment team during day, who play different games etc. Night entertainment, however, finished at approx 10 pm.

Overall, you get what you pay for. Decor of the Hotel is not Wow!, but staff and service were excellent. They could not do enough to help. Great holiday for the money we paid.

This is truly a locals place - 98 percent of the guests are Mexican. The food choices in the buffet are very minimal and poor. You get (2) small bottles of water placed in your room at the beginning of the visit for free - then you have to take your empty bottles to the restaurant or bar to refill otherwise you are charged. The front desk is very rude and will not help you out with anything. The bar and entertainment staff are very helpful and caring (Luis, Willy, Jose, Irving) and made the stay tolerable, the bellman (Victor) was also sweet and helped us with questions. If you are American you will not be happy here at all. They do not know the meaning of "All Inclusive" at this hotel. Would not recommend this hotel at all.

Room Tip: Rooms are clean but very old and ran down.

Normally, I don't write reviews because they are very subjective. However, if you go with NO expectations of a hotel, then Aquamarina Beach Hotel might be ok to you. Rooms had water saver shower heads that sprintz you, and hope you get hot water, we didn't...had to change rooms due several issues & poor A/C maintenance with leaking water on our beds. . Jacuzzi jets never worked, WiFi never worked in the lobby as advertised. Take your stomach medicine if the food looks too strange to eat, or you can't handle cafeteria food, and don't expect to swim in the ocean here..the lagoon side is dirty. Sandy beach is full of sand fleas, and the pool & bars close early. Drinks are lightly sprinkled with alcohol, so all inclusive at the Aquamarina Beach Hotel is a bust. MBC-Texas Gals.

This place was a let down. The room was nice, but surprisingly didn't have a fridge or cooking equipment despite having a stove. Quite bizarre.

On arrival they asked us if we wanted the sea view or king room as that's all they had. We had booked a King room with a sea view and after a while this room suddenly became available.

We purchased the all inclusive package for the first two which gave us a wrist band for food/drink etc. We spent the third day outside of the hotel and didn't find a need for the package, however I had left the wrist band on as a type of momento. As a result I was harassed by 2 staff members in front of a packed foyer who demanded I pay for a whole day of using the package just because I was still wearing the wristband. This was embarassing and insulting.

In my 4 week trip through USA and Mexico this was by far the worst reception staff I've ever encountered.

The recreation activity staff were great fun and really energetic. Enjoyed their games

We arrived and from this moment everything was good. Staff are fantastic, all of them, really smiley and very helpful. My only critism would be that if you are looking for English/American entertainment or conversation this is not the place for you?it is mainly Mexican guests, and most of the staff speak very little English.having said that it is very relaxing and co,pared to some of the much larger hotels, you feel very valued as a customer. Rooms are good, all with sea view, fridge and Mini bar would have been nice but hey!beach was small but always space, and no putting towels on beds to get a space -which was refreshing!i travelled with 3 late teenage kids and, to be fair, a larger more 'American' hotel with more evening entertainment would have been better, but we all had a great time and will definitely retur. To Cancun.
