Cancun's club med has it all: best location on the peninsula (the site is at least 4 times the size of any hotels on the strip), great food and tons of stuff to do, but above all, it has simply the best staff and crew you can hope for.

I've been to really great resorts with wonderful staff, but the G.O.'s shear love and dedication for their work will elevate your vacation to nothing short of an experience, you just can't even compare it.

I highly recommend to anyone who's interested into having fun, sports and/or relaxing (the resort's so big you have quiet spots where you won't even see staff or guests).
It's not the cheapest resort in cancun but it's an absolute sure shot, no bad surprises, and IF for some reason something isn't to your liking, you can address those concern to my man Eduardo, the chief of the village himself who is ALWAYS present at the entrance of the main dinning room, everyday (thats right, you get to speak directly to highest authority on site, that says a LOT about how they run that place)

I only have one word of warning: you'll want to go back the minute you get home.

This was out third time we have visited Club Med during the March school break and we had another perfect holiday. We left the cold winter of Montreal behind and had 10 days of sunshine and blue sky in Cancun. Our holidays have always combined relaxation with sports and activities for our children so Club Med is perfect for this kind of vacation. I enjoy water skiing so being able to ski in a slalom course on calm water with a proper ski boat several times a day is something you can rarely find at most vacation destinations. Aside from that the food is very good and plentiful and the staff are all very pleasant and professional. Our stay was further enhanced by staying in the upscale Jade / Trident area of the resort. This private part of the club is a real oasis and worth the extra money, although Club Med certainly delivers good value, especially if you book early. We hope to return again next winter.

Our family of 10 just returned from our third trip to Cancun at the end of February, and we are all wishing we were still there! We stayed in the Jade building, which is very luxurious, with huge rooms and its own pool area, which is just lovely. And the gardens surrounding Jade have come into their own now, and are lush and beautiful. The service at the pool is a great perk! The team at Jade - from the GOs at the concierge desk to the maids to the pool drinks service GOs - was very professional, warm, and helped to make our stay lovely and special. Of course, the GOs at the Mini Club and the Car Wash ROCKED! They took such great care of our kids, and that's always been one of the things I love most about Club Med: I know that my children are really well taken care of, with kindness and responsibility, and above all else fun!, by people who really look like they love what they're doing. The tennis GOs were really nice, and we had a great time playing tennis: there are so mnay courts that playtime was not a problem. The GO for fitness had great classes, and the snorkeling was a lot of fun. The beach at the Club is the best in Cancun, because while often one can see red flags (danger!) further up the beach to warn against the really huge waves and currents, at the Cub Med beach it's often significantly calmer (yellow or green flags), and thus safer for kids to be in the water: and there are still waves big enough to have fun in! The staff in the restaurants were all very kind and helpful, and my one and only slightly negative comment for the trip would be that the food was a little bit bland for my tastes: seeing as we're in Mexico, I would have thought that there would be more 'umph' (read: spice) to the food! But this in no way diminished the fun we had nor the enjoyment of eating anyway! (BYW, for the best drinks, see Carlos at the main bar!). All in all, we all had a great time, thanks Eduardo and Magali for your attention and for creating such a wonderful Club with such great spirit! See you again next year!!

I was at Club Med Cancun Yucatan in January 2011 and I can say without a doubt that I had the best week of my life with the CARWASH's best team ever: Alberto Escalante,Jona Gomez,Délia Coline and Raja. They are amazing, kind, funny, they are always there to help you and to make you laugh. They are always there for you, you can pass the day with them, you can dinner with them, you can dance with them, you do whatever you want and they are always so great! Seriously guys, if you want to have a lot of fun, go to the Club Med Cancun Yucatan and you will pass a wonderful moment. Everything is incredible: the food, the temperature, the beach, the activities, the G.O., the animation, the hotel, EVERYTHING. I can't complain about something because everything was perfect! I will go back there whenever, tomorrow morning if I can.

Thank you so much everybody of Cancun for this beautiful week.

This was our 4th year at Club Med Cancun, so the vacation offered no surprises, just the fabulous atmosphere, food, and activities we were looking forward to. For the 10 days of our trip (Feb 17-26, 2011) the weather was perfect, and we enjoyed the warm sunshine, lots of great sailing and windsurfing, decent waterskiing and wakeboarding, and fabulous flying trapeze.

Special kudos to the official and non-official members of the circus team (Herdlyn, Mineiro, Antonio, Cel, Kendell, Lucas, and Vanessa) for all their hard work and great attitude. Because the village was full, they added an extra session of trapeze for the 14-17 yr. olds so the adult time wouldn't be as crowded. We really appreciated that! We were thrilled that there was a flying trapeze show in the evening (that had been lacking the past two years we were there.) And the other circus show at Las Velas was excellent; they are truly professional-quality performers.

The sailing G.Os (Matias, Cesar, Brenda, Andres, and Javier) were also very friendly and helpful. We never had to wait long for a boat or windsurfer, and they did their best to keep the equipment in good working order. The 12-yr-old boys in our group were very happy to learn enough to be able to sail the 14-ft Hobie Cats solo. We did miss the group sailing armada down the coast which was not offered this year, and the 16-ft Hobie was beached for repairs most of our visit.

Waterskiing and wakeboarding were better than usual this year, due to the improved condition of the equipment and the improved G.O team. Paulina was especially friendly, and Phillipe, Rodrigo, and Marc were available and competent.

Eduardo is doing a great job as Chief of the Village, as evidenced by how smoothly everything ran and the quality of the G.Os. We'll even give him credit for the great weather! See you next year, Club Med Cancun!

We have just returned from a week stay at Club Med Cancun with our 9-year-old daughter. It was seven consecutive days of sunshine, 83-degree weather and vivid tropical experiences. The vacation was just what we needed after weeks of cold, snowy weather in the northeast. If you’re considering a trip to this resort we believe it’s a good choice for an active vacation for families with school-age kids. However, if you’re picky about accommodations and gourmet food Club Med may not exceed your expectations.

We had mixed opinions about our stay in the Jade section of the resort. The outside grounds were great but our room was disappointing. First, the outside area. It’s a beautiful setting with an infinity pool that overlooks the Caribbean. You may lounge in a comfortable beach chair, a hammock or lie in a cabana while waiters routinely offer to get you drinks. There’s nothing better when you’re on winter break than being asked “would you like another mojito”? Sure, it’s after 11 am, why not! Each day around noon, the staff delivers a small plate of appetizers. Guacamole and chips. Shrimp in cocktail sauce. A nice treat. The Jade pool area is a quiet place to read a book, work on a tan, or daydream of a permanent tropical lifestyle. A steady ocean breeze enhances the experience. Looking back, Jade’s setting is worth the extra money if for no other reason than guests staying in rooms near the lagoon have to deal with the funky smell of standing water. Besides, Jade has its own resident celebrity in Maximos, the iguana who lorded over the entranceway to the building and thrilled every kid who came near.

We had a deluxe room facing the gardens. It featured a king size bed and a pullout for our daughter. While the layout was fine the humidity was not. The room was constantly damp which left the sheets, all papers, and your clothing in a state of perpetual wetness. The best way to dry a swimsuit or a T-shirt was to leave it on a deck chair in the sun. Another inconvenience was the lack of an electrical outlet in the sink/shower area. Instead, we were told guests sit at a small table in the main room to use a hair dryer. Unusual! As was the absence of dressers. Guests use a series of cubbies. The Jade rooms are promoted as “luxury 5 trident spaces”. It seemed to us the room detail was sloppy. Mold in the bathroom. Sloppy paint job and crumbling mortar. Wall fixtures crooked. No hair conditioner among the toiletries which led us to “borrowing” some from the spa. Club Med does not position itself as the Ritz but if Jade is the top of the line, we anticipated more attention to detail. On the upside, we toured the larger suites across the hall which face the ocean and were quite impressed. Finally, be patient with the internet service. Our account was disconnected no less than six times which is a minor nuisance if you’re trying to stay connected with the outside world.

The kid’s program is where Club Med excels! It’s a win-win for you and your children. Each day our daughter had a chance to swim, kayak, boat, and swing on the trapeze. It was a very active experience for her. She made fast friends with several girls her age and had a truly enjoyable time. For 8 hours each day, my wife and I had no worries that our daughter was having a good time. As any vacationing parent will tell you, when the kids are having fun mom and dad are happy too. When our daughter was playing with her new friends, we were able to enjoy the other resort activities including snorkeling and the spa. Each night the kids would take part in some kind of show. Yes, parts of it were quite good! Our daughter loved the chance to get on stage to dance to a classic ABBA song. Bravo! The trapeze is a big draw, and especially so for our daughter, who is a gymnast. However, the French-speaking children were given permission by the staff to have freedom of expression on the trapeze but the English-speaking children were given rigid instructions ("hang by the knees, now release your hands, now put them back on, etc"). We experienced a slight, but persistent bias towards the French during our stay.

The meals were good but not great. We ate most of the time at the Hacienda and Las Cazuelas which serve buffet style. In general when a restaurant prepares dozens of options, a few items will be great and some will not. The salads were good as were the desserts. The hot foods were sometimes lukewarm or over-cooked. Our best meal was at the Pergola which is a steakhouse restaurant. Before you’re seated the maitre’d whets the appetite by taking you on a quick tour of sample foods. Our daughter made the best choice of the evening – flank steak. My wife and I mooched several portions from her plate. Remember to make your dinner reservations for the week once you check in to the resort otherwise you may be unable to eat when and where you prefer. Another point to remember is if your child eats with the kids club, you will have little chance of eating at one of the restaurants unless you manage to get the earliest reservation, which is at 7:30.

On our last full day at Club Med, the three of us went snorkeling. Almost immediately after our daughter got out of the water, she complained that both ears hurt. In fact, she experienced something called "barotrauma" which was painful for her but luckily no more than a temporary problem. What unfolded the next 30 hours was what most parents dread – a sick child on vacation in another country, and that ever so long trip home. Here, is where we want to thank the people at the Club Med infirmary especially Cesar who called in a doctor on a Sunday evening. The doctor on call was understanding, reassuring and attentive. It was an unfortunate experience but we are grateful our daughter got the help she needed.

A combination of the sun, sea and amazing people there made this holiday by far the best! The buffet at Club Med is always enjoyable and the variety of food available is incredible. The GO's are the friendly people, and are willing to help you with anything. In particular the GO's at 'Carwash' (Raja, Delia, Alberto + Javier) I found to be really friendly and great at making the children interact with each other, it made the vacation at lot more fun for the teenagers as it meant that they had people of a similar age to hang out with.
