I started staying there when it was the Conrad Hilton in 1992. Have only missed 4 years since then.
We started going there on our 25th anniversary and have always been very pleased. Yes sometimes there will be renovations, we had to be given another room and no problems.
We always stay at the Royal Beach Club the larger rooms and bigger balcony is a good improvement over the old one.
Have already booked my trip 11/2-11/09, could not go last due to prostrate cancer treatments and really missed it.
I would really recommend this resort.
The last time we were there was 11/2011.

This was the third time visiting this hotel. On my last visit I found the hotel to be under remodelation, main pool closed and some rooms OOO.
Rooms are great, those Heavenly beds and showers certainly make a difference!
Service is just ok; although they call you by your name, sometimes they just lack the attention to detail you require. You can feel when someone does the job rather than enjoying the job.
Room service is great. Couple of mistakes here and there but overall it's above par.
Breakfast at El Palmar is quite poor, food seems to rest there for way longer than it should. I arrived at 10.45 for breakfast and asked the lady on the eggs station if she was closing, and she said actually yes I'm closing but I can do one more order. Not really a reply you expect!
Pastries are ok. You can tell those croissants are frozen and the bread selection is not good at all.
By the beach the service is fine. The first five minutes Waiter able to convince me to have a cocktail even though it was 11am. After that however waiter was nowhere to be found. I asked another person for the check and it took so long that I had to chase the original waiter.
Overall is a nice hotel, friendly staff but needs serious injection of motivation and keeping people happy and showing them how to reflect it to guests.
I would recommend it as a medium hotel for families. Do not expect luxury or high quality ammenities.

We stayed at the Royal Beach Club and it was great! Great service. If you are picking a great resort to stay at pick the Royal Beach Club. We got a great view of the ocean and it was amazing. It was vary clean and the best part was free drinks after 5:00 or 6:00.

A strange twist of fate brought us to the Westin in Cancun. We originally flew into to PVR and had a room at the Krystal - the weather was so bad and rainy (and the resort was so underwhelming) that we decided to fly the coop and found ourselves in Cancun. The Westin wasn’t necessarily our first choice – but for our first time in Cancun we figured it was a SAFE choice; and I think that word pretty much sums up this as a hotel choice. Safe. It’s a beautiful resort – which is to be expected for a Westin – but nothing really amazing about it. You can tell it’s a slightly older hotel – the bathrooms are especially telling and some areas of the building look older. It’s a safe choice if you’re looking to be within the hotel zone, close to a bus line and want to ensure you’ll have a “classic” beach vacation. One of the major pluses is the bus line. It’s very inexpensive to travel on. Just walk one block right of the resort and you’ll find the bus stop. That actually marks the end of the bus route (this is where they turn around and loop back) so it’s easy to keep track of your whereabouts. Being at the end of the loop means it’s a longer ride into town though where there are shops and restaurants but it’s a fairly enjoyable ride – and you’ll pass a Walmart along the way. Tip: stop at Walmart to stock up. You can also buy liquor in the Cancun Walmart’s! (Imagine our delight.) Anyway, back to the hotel, it’s nice enough. The staff was not especially memorable – but we did enjoy the spa staff. They gave us a free 10 minute shoulder massage upon arrival, had some good deals and we wound up getting full massage on the beach – great experience! The food isn’t really memorable but it’s okay. The breakfast buffet is probably the best selection-wise and the omelet station is a plus. We did not run into any check in issues or troubles with the room. O major hiccups. Everything went smoothly and was just OK in the end. Not sure we’d return though with so many other choices closer into town.

This hotel is at the end of a strip of hotels which makes it feel freer. We stayed in the Beach Club part of the hotel and it was great. Our room was spacious and we had a great view of the ocean - great to sit on the balcony mornings and evenings. The only negative was that the bathroom layout made it feel small. The beach club area has a separate breakfast room and cocktail area. We were with a group so this was a great way to stay connected. The food was very good and the service was great. We also had a couples massage which was excellent. There are several pool and beach areas too. We would definitely go back to this resort.

There are good and bad points about this resort. Staff=Very Helpful. Resort=Low Average.

The staff was very polite and helpful. They spoke to you as you walked through the hotel. They tried very much to help. The wifi in the lobby was fast and reliable. The hotel was clean. I never saw anything out of place from that perspective. We worked with three different members of the concierge staff and they were very helpful and courteous. The first day/night we found lots of bugs in our room. We requested to move and were obliged without hassle.

Before staying here, I would say think about why you’re visiting Cancun. If you want to be near shopping, restaurants, nightclubs and other hotels, this is not the hotel for you. As it is located far from the activities mentioned. However, the bus stops very near the hotel and is cheap and convenient.

If you are looking for a posh resort-style vacation, then you might want to select another hotel. I did not get a resort feel here at all. The hotel is older, but well maintained. It is very much a large hotel on the beach, but that’s not bad especially if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation on the beach or poolside. However, there are no water sports or other activities.

Speaking of the beach, I found it to be less than desirable. There is a lot of trash in the sandy areas at this hotel and it is very rocky. I ruined my pedicure walking in the sand. There is also a low concrete wall between the beach and the hotel. It is different heights in different places and is covered with sand. It makes walking difficult and somewhat unsafe because it is covered with sand to hide the concrete.

We purchased the breakfast plan and were very glad we did. The breakfast was very tasty and there was a huge variety. The breakfast hours are from 6:30am till 11:00am; which were more than adequate hours for early birds and late risers. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful.

We ordered pizza from the poolside bar on our first day. It was horrible! It was a frozen pizza crust that had been re-heated. It was hard as a brick. The toppings were not much better. We vowed not to eat anything other than breakfast for the remainder of our stay and we did not. We also ordered a margarita that same day and it was horrible. It was all syrup. We sent the drink back and ordered beer. We never had another bar drink from the hotel again.

We also never found the Jacuzzi. We asked, but never got an answer as to where it was located.

My husband and I have been vacationing in Cancun for 21 years, with kids and without. We are now in our early 50's and finally have a chance to vacation by ourselves. This is the third time we have stayed at the Royal Beach Club section of the Westin Hotel and Spa.Its a perfect romantic getaway. The hotel is beautiful. It has ocean as well as lagoon sunset views. The people working at the hotel are wonderful people with big smiles and treat you like royalty.Chritian Urzua was our consierge and was exceptional in taking great care of us.

The RBC includes a fabulous breakfast and happy hour with appetizers that is perfectly delicious! Most of the food in the hotel is very, very good so you don't even need to leave the resort. It is very quiet and private ,just exactly what we love when we are on vacation at this time in our lives. What you don't get at the hotel is just a short distance away by bus or by cab.We always go dancing and out to a few great restaurants in Cancun but we love coming back to the hotel to our very large comfortable room where we can hear the ocean waves. The rooms are clean, well kept, and have all the amenities that you need.

Room Tip: We stayed on the fifth floor in The Royal Beach Club which is more private and has a big balcony whi...
