“Great Hotel - Hard to go wrong with Cancun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2011

All the hotels I've been to in Cancun were very nice and cheap. It's hard to go wrong with Cancun but this hotel is soooo good! The room was brand new, everything big, new, bright, clean and comfortable (just the way we Americans like it!!). Stayed there with dad our balcony had ocean/ beach view (Cancun has beautiful baby blue colored ocean beaches so needless to say the view was amazing) the shower had two hads (endulge, endulge, endulge!!) the spa was like everything else in the hotel (perfect 10!) the pool service was execptional I even got a free drink from the waiter who would bring my drinks to the beach (in front of the hotel's pool). There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. The bus runs all night so you can go clubbing and pay less than a US dollar for transportation and it's super safe! I took it in the middle of the night by myself when my dad bailed on me in the club to go sleep at his friend's hotel (i'm a 34 year old woman BTW!). An the Mexicans in Cancun, from the city bus driver to the hotel concierge, they are experts in hospitality and customer service! Can't wait to go back there! For little $ you get treated like royalty!

We felt very comfortable and it was easy to find your way around and accordingly it was relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were polite and helpful and not pushy or dismissive which contributed to the positive experience. It was value for money and I think a three day stay as we had was good; five may have been better.

We stayed here a few years ago. I am sure things have changed since we went but our time there was very pleasant. One of the things I really liked was it was low-key, quite, relaxing. This was exactly what we were looking for and we got it. If we wanted to get 'pumped up' all we had to do is go into town.
We went in September and it was very hot. Not as crowded. We did something almost every day. We used our hotel for sleeping, showering, getting a bite to eat and laying out by the pool. Other wise we did things like snokeling day trips, Xel-Ha
Natural Aquarium, Caverns & Lagoons, the ruins, walking the strip, barder with locals, getting drunk at Senior Frogs and getting completely scared on how the bus drivers drove. VERY scary.

I was on a stopover of roughly 12 hours only and booked this hotel based on proximity to the airport and price (ca. $120). Luckily, I didn't have to spend a whole holiday here. The beach is not suitable for swimming. The stretchers at the beach are of the cheapest plastic version. The hotel is pretty empty and suffers from an unusual lack of atmosphere. The windows in the room cannot be opened. This place feels more like a clinic. The planned refurbishment is badly needed. There is nothing to do within walking distance.

If you plan to stay in the hotel for the whole duration of your vacation on a budget, I would recommend the hotel. If you are a backpacker who would like to go around during your stay, this is a bad choice.

Pros:
- Relatively lower price compared to other hotel zone hotels.
- Good view (Ocean or Lagoon)
- Good beach, good swimming pool.
- Friendly staffs.
- Not many guests (if you prefer quite vacation).

Cons:
- The very last hotel on the hotel zone strip. Very far away from everything: restaurants, shopping malls, downtown Cancun, downtown bus station. If you catch a bus to downtown, it is 30-40 min one way. If you catch a taxi, it is 20-30 min but it will cost you 12-20 US dollars one way.
- Not the cleanest, tidies hotel I've seen.
- Not many guests (if you prefer party vacation).
- Charged ~12 US dollar for internet use per day. I know this is the Norm for the four star hotels, but it is still a con.

We did a quick, 2 night/3 day trip to Cancun to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday. I had SPG points for the Westin, and even though it was free, it was nonetheless a great choice.

This hotel is one of the first on the main strip, thus making it a quick ride from the airport. As an SPG Gold member, I was upgraded to an oceanfront room in the Beach Club tower. The room was basic, but nicely appointed. This is a somewhat older hotel, but everything was clean and well-organized. The hotel complex has 5 restaurants and I think 8 pools, plus a nice section of beach. Service was good but not over the top. The food was terrific. The Starburger in the restaurant was one of the best burgers I've ever had!

A few issues... The door to the balcony did not lock properly. But being 5 floors up, I didn't worry about it. And on Sunday morning, the maid entered our room without knocking. I had just left the shower, and was thankfully in my bathing suit. It could have been quite embarrasing! That's poor training.

Cancun is a fun and easy trip with great tourist accomodations. Very safe and inviting. I'd choose this hotel again if we returned.

This is a great spot for a family vacation and also great for couples. The rooms are basic but have coffee makers and fridges. The Ocean Club includes breakfast and happy hour snacks which is well worth the upgrade IMO. There is a kids club and several pools to choose from. When you feel like venturing out, take the local bus at the bottom of the driveway on the turning circle for $1. and hit the La Isla mall for incredible shopping or fabulous food at La Madonna and Thai. Walk past the Club Med to the far side and find the best snorkeling in Cancun. Take the bus to the ferry for a trip to Isla Mujieres and have a super day trip. If you want a rental car pre book a rental car with airport pick up and the parking is free. Otherwise the hotel can arrange airport transfer for $30-40. The restaurants onsite make very good food and for a change of pace try the local La Europa grocery store for cold meat and cheese plus an amazing selection of wine and spirits to stock up your room with. If you are there for more than a week take a trip into the City oif Cancun and see how the locals live. Or head down to Playa Del Carmen for the night life and a stroll down 5th Avenue. There are also tours to see the ruins if that's your speed. ?Of course you could also just hang out at the swim up bar.....
