The beach was open and people could go in a bit even thought the weather was wild. The wind was fast and the waves although the seems to be not to big were very strong.
The life savers were very responsible ,always looking out for everyone there. He allowed me and James to boogie board close to the beach and told us what to watch out for.
I give a very high rating for this experience because he was not blindly strict and allowed us to have safe fun.

the sand is not as thin and white as I remember it from 10 years ago.

Thank MaeDG

We got the local bus to this beach a couple of times. It is a blue flag beach, clean, uncluttered and quiet.

One of the many public beaches, with ultra clean showers and rest rooms, 24 hour police presence, a grat look out platform, excellent for shutter bugs, overlooking the Caribbean Sea towards Cuba.

Good for a cheap excursion! Take any #1 or #2 bus from your hotel ($9.50 pesos or $1 US). It is pretty far down the seven (south). Tell the bus driver "Las Ruinas del Rey". Before you cross the road for the beach, pay $4 US to see some nice ruins and Iguanas (snag a couple extra slices of bread @ breakfast) for them. They will come up close. Not much in the way of info, but a nice and cheap way to see some ruins if you cant make the bigger ones. The man working the gate the day I was there speaks some English and had as many questions for me as I had of him of the area.

Lovely to have this right outside the hotel, but sea a bit rough at times!! Well maintained and spotlessly clean, miles of soft sand and hardly anyone on it.
