My husband and I went for my 40th birthday and I did not do my homework. We are simply too old!

This is a party city, and not our cup of tea. We will not return.

The hotel was lovely though. My husband arranged for flowers and chocolate covered strawberries, champagne in the room! It was flawless.

The restaurants in the hotel were wonderful and we ate at them all. They bend over backwards to meet our needs.

By the time we left there was a convention coming in and the hotel was very busy and much more business like, but while we were there the staff knew us by name.

We had some trouble with our credit card when buying some tours through the travel agent in the hotel. We had made arrangements with the credit card companies and were even talking to them on the phone while the card was being refused. The credit card company said they never saw the transactions coming through. The hotel said that this was a separate travel company that just worked out of the hotel. If you do this have some extra cash.

The hotel and staff was lovely, great location. A bit pricey, but worth it. I'm glad I went and I think that this was the right hotel to go to. But as I said, I won't go back.

Let's start off with the ugly. United flight delayed 5 hours down and 3 hours back. Over 90 minutes to go through customer re-entering the US. Just way too many travel hassles - prefer Hawaii.

That stated, the hotel is outstanding...a true resort. Housekeeping was marginal. Had to call them twice to get the room made up. All rooms are large and oceanfront. You will be more than comfortable. We could not get Club Level - it was sold out, but were quite happy with our suite.

Coupons - They give you $1,000 in coupons, and a few of them are OK. In the end, they jack the prices up on everything, so you really don't get much value.

Spa - $298 for a massage? Really? Massages were great, but I can get on at a 5 star resort in Las Vegas for $160. The Spa itself though, is definitely worth visiting. They have a 10 step relaxation program that concludes in the Sensations Pool. MUST SEE.

Restaurants - La Joya , Isla Contoy (dinner buffet) and Vina Del Mar (breakfast buffet). We had a "romantic cabana dinner" on the beach one night. THAT...was special.

Dophinaris - The best dolphin swimming experience in Cancun.

Snorkling Adventures - We were warned off the powerboat tour that has 40 minutes of snorkeling. They sent us to this place, which can be an hour ride on the shuttle. The boats are 24 feet, so if you are prone to sea sickness, don't do it. Snorkeling was mediocre. Does not compare to Hawaii.

Water Sports - There is a rental place in front of the hotel. They give you a coupon, but then when you get there, they say "cash or credit card only." Who brings cash down to the beach? They won't let you charge to the room. BOO!

Caribbean Carnival Dinner Cruise - It's this or the Pirate Show. Was told the Pirate Cruise is full of kids, we opted for the Caribbean Cruise...which should be called the Booze Cruise. Not complaining, but make no mistake, this is a 4 hour party. Includes dinner on the island if Isla Mujeres, open bar, and a great show. The show was a bit long, however those that were wrecked on the liquor seemed to really enjoy it. Great service, good food, great show. I give this one two thumbs up!

Room Tip: All rooms are oceanfront. Everyone likes the Club Level, however it was sold out.

Second trip here to the grand club. The staff is very friendly and go out of there way to please. Hotel is very clean and rooms are very impressive. My wife and 2 sons ages 7 & 9 spent a week here felt very safe security all over & waves are calm so kids can play and don't need to worry. They have 2 girls by the pool kenia & Jacqueline that run the kids club. Many activities like beach soccer, ping pong, water polo, volleyball even cooking classes with the bassalic chef kids loved it. Next year would like to take the boys someplace else but afraid we will be disappointed after having two great vacations at the fiesta Americana???????

My husband and I were celebrating our 22nd anniversary, his birthday and our first vaca without kids and it was everything and then some! The resort is beautiful, our room was spacious and the resort staff so nice.
We love taking in local restaurants and shopping and all was within walking distance. One rainy day we took the ferry over to Isla Mujeres, rented a golf cart and had a blast shopping, eating and listening to a Cuban band that was outstanding.
We can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: We booked on Hotwire.com and because they couldn't guarantee a king size bed with the package ro...

My wife and I travel extensively, all over the world. We've stayed in the worst and the best. This hotel, I was very surprised to say, was the best experience we've ever had (except for one detail, see below).

Disclaimer, we upgraded our rooms to the Delux ocean front. We did not know that this included access to the "Grand Club" on the top floor. This factor likely played into how great it was for us.

1) The hotel is simply gorgeous, and immaculate. We've stayed in other FiestAmericana hotels before, but this was the best we've seen.

2) The staff bent over backwards to make you feel special, welcome, and satisfied. You can tell that the staff - all of them - are coached to respond "Its my pleasure" after anything you ask them for, but I actually had the sense that they meant it!

I have to give you 2 examples.
a) We had our car taken by valet, and we had left something in the car we needed. So, we called down. Instead of giving us the keys to get it ourselves, they went to the car, retrieved anything we wanted, and placed it in our room for us while we were in the pool!

b) I foolishly left a *very* expensive camera in a cab, taken from a different hotel. In Cancun, people. I figured it was as good as gone. Nope, the attentive bell captain actually tracked this guy down by asking OTHER cabbies that he'd grown to know. He found a guy who actually whipped out his cell phone, found the cabbie that had driven us, and brought it back for us. Unreal.

3) The Pool was great - the swim up bar was great - the food at the swim up bar was great!

4) The bands that play - the mariachi band in one of the restaurants and the jazz band outside of the main bar - were wonderful, and were fun to talk to as well.

5) The Food and service in the Grand Club was AMAZING. VERY expansive and of extremely high quality. And, it was included for those who upgraded, so we actually found ourselves eating there breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We would have been happy going out, but Cancun is hit or miss, and the Grand Club never failed to amaze, so we returned time after time. Do yourself a favor. Buy the upgrade. You'll actually SAVE money by not having to go out to eat, and the quality you'll get will be better (PS, it includes free drinks - even liquor during dinner).

The only, and I mean the ONLY thing, that we found less than stellar about this hotel was the staff at the Marina desk. There were 2 that we dealt with, and we felt misled - probably not intentionally - a few times about activities we wanted to do. Instead of going to the Marina desk, just use TripAdvisor. :)

Room Tip: Make sure your room includes access to the Grand Club. Honestly, its totally worth it.

No sense in rambling on.....this is a superb resort in every way. We have stayed in resorts all over the World including Ritz-Carlton's, J.W. Marriott's, etc. and we believe this one matches them toe-to-toe, without the obscene price some of these go for. For the best of the best, make sure you stay on the Club Levels of floors 10 & 11. Great food all day, premium drinks all evening, great gym, incredible Spa, butler service at a designated place at the huge pool.....all included in the price of the Club rooms. Of course, massages and other spa treatments are extra, but the service and attention to detail are impeccable. The onsite restaurants are top-notch, etc., etc. My wife doesn't want to ever stay anyplace else in Cancun. Why would you? The only thing I would change is the addition of an adults-only pool, however, the huge private beach and monstrous pool with 2 swim-up bars keeps everyone pretty well separated. If, however, you are looking for strictly adults only, this is not the place.

My husband and I, and our two small children recently stayed at FAGCB for four nights and were very pleased with our choice. We booked two ocean front junior suites but due to availability were upgraded to two master suites. The rooms were huge with a perfect view of the ocean and massive balconies. The hotel is showing its age somewhat, but it was very clean and not falling apart like some other reviews had me worrying. We thought the service was absolutely impeccable from every person we encountered. The breakfast buffet was delicious and we enjoyed La Joya, the on-site Mexican restaurant, so much we dined there twice. The prices for food and drinks property-wide was on the higher side, but we honestly didn't think any higher than we anticipate at a resort. The fitness center had nice equipment and a fantastic view. The only negatives we encountered were the lack of on-property dinner choices between the hours of 5:00-6:30 p.m. We discovered that the restaurants that only served dinner did not open until 6:30, and the outdoor, beachfront restaurant that served both lunch and dinner closed between the hours of 5:00-6:30). With very small kids who are used to eating much earlier than 6:30, it was somewhat frustrating that our only choices between those hours were room service, the small cafe (which was good but not really the atmosphere we were looking for on vacation), or stretching them to 6:30 and hoping for the best. The only other negatives were that the timing of housekeeping and turn-down service was completely unpredictable, and the kids meals didn't have any healthy options or sides (it would have been nice to have some carrot sticks or steamed brocolli instead of only fries). Overall, we were very happy we chose to stay here. We actually stayed at the Ritz-Carlton last year, to which FAGCB is often compared, and we thought the FAGCB was better.
