My wife and I travel in a light and casual manner and avoid opulent and intimidating accommodation, so this little establishment suited our needs perfectly. It's a clean resort with friendly helpful staff and excellent bus connections right at your front door. In contrast to the towering big chain hotels with massive facades that dominate Cancun, Dos Playas is a charming little spot on a lovely beach where you can interact with vacationers of all ages and nationalities.

Neither my wife nor I are pickey eaters and we were satisfied with the variety of food offered there. We also believe that many of the complaints voiced by other contributors tended to be overstated, or may have been more justified if they had paid for a higher priced establishment. If you are a person who expects perfection and demands luxury accomodation and exotic or upscale meals, or cannot tolerate a bit of disrepair here and there, then you will not be happy here. But if you wish to save travel dollars and can overlook a few imperfections, this may be just the place for you to stay. In conclusion, we were quite happy with our stay here and would reconsider it if we choose to revisit Cancun..

(I would not recommend this hotel for anyone with a mobility handicap, as it is not wheelchair friendly and there are a number of steps to negotiate during the course of a normal day.)

We stayed at dos playas this january 14 nights big mistake location great thats the end of it everything else absoluyely awful food disgusting resturaunt a joke queueing outside waiting for a table drinking out of plastic tumblers food was never covered up it was always cold that is of course if you had the stommach to eat it.Entertainment nil closed every night 10 45pm very badly lit at night very tricky underfoot. the room was clean i willl say that but on the other hand so it should be. I would say to all first timers do your home work on this hotel before you book and read the reviews it is a hotel i would deffinitely not recommend.

the Hotel was Dos playas which was a good hotel for me because the meals and drinks were paid for and then I used to shoot out to do my own things etc.. I had some great friends in the resort and we had a wonderful time, breakky was great and so was the food, the only downside was the ques. But overall great place and nice location, the bus is outside and when you return just tell the bus or taxi driver Playa Tortorgas and you will get off at your hotel, Thanjs

Myself and three friends stayed at this hotel. After reading the reviews on here we were all worried about going, but we shouldnt have as it was brilliant.
I cannot fault anything, apart from the restaurant good do with being bigger..

The staff are excellent, waiters, bar staff, reception staff.. The entertainment team are the best.. If you go make sure you go out with them, as they will make your stay even better..

If you want a fun holiday with a hotel on the beach for a budget price dos playas is the place..

We left a tip everyday for our maid and she never took it, so we left it for her at the end of our stay.. Nothing ever got taken from our room. This hotel is a 2/3 star hotel and it was much better than what we thought.

We are all going back again...

I think the title says it all.
Just returned from Dos Playas in Cancun after a 2 week stay. We have never before been so glad to be home again.
Uppon our arrival 2 weeks ago we were shown to a room that resembled a broom closet overlooking the parking lot. We requested another room immediately and were given a room in the quieter area over by the tennis courts. Our daughter and her boyfriend ended up having to change rooms 3 times - the first room also overlooked the parking lot and was small, the second room flooded after she took a shower.
We had paid for AI and ended up eating out more often than not, because the lineup for breakfast, lunch and dinner was just ridiculous. If we were lucky enough to get a table later on, the food that was left looked unappetizing and all the better food was gone.
There were not enough lounge chairs and more than once did we witness fights over them. We had a great maid and there was a great bartender when we did use the bar. Entertainment was nonexisting appart from Bingo and Booze trips to Dady'os and the Bulldog at $50 US. Thank god we rented a car so we could get away.
However the location was good - bus stop (6.5 pesos) and ferry terminal close by. We will not be back
