Description: We are an operator of restaurants we admire the culture, customs and this land, its people and their way of being. In our restaurant you can enjoy genuine dishes, an interesting atmosphere and service with typical warmth of our race. In addition to the flavor of these exotic lands, home to one of the most amazing civilizations of mankind, that for more than 10,000 years ago populate this region and hunting, gathering and agriculture learned to survive giving rise to a unique cuisine that many years later with the influence and contributions of conquerors modern cuisine that is admired is created. We work with the emerging recipes "vox populi" ie the housewives, from every corner of the peninsula, from which arise the different dishes with different ingredients and flavors.

Couldn't have been a better experience. Great food (get the lime soup or cream poblano soup!), excellent service and well priced. Wish I could have eaten here everyday during my stay (sort of inconvenient from our hotel in the hotel zone) but we took the R-1 and were there in 20 minutes or so. Worth the trip!

We recently had an excellent dinner at Labna. We know the restaurant from a visit there many years ago and returned.

The manager Gabrielle is an outstanding welcome committee. Warm, efficient, obviously focused on his diners being happy. He walked us to our table and walked us out at the end of the meal and into a taxi. Answered many questions on the menu; if you have questions ask him for recommendations.

Their sopa de lima is indeed excellent. Fragrant, almost like a Thai soup. Throw in the chopped condiments that come along with it, particularly the diced jalapeno. Its a very good and very light soup.

Their cochinita pibil is excellent. Long cooked, shredded, soft with a great sauce, served with warm tortillas. It was the best we had of a number that we had in CUN. Not wanting two orders of that we also had their chicken mole, it too was very good, even though mole is not a local specialty. Good margaritas, a nice room, excellent, friendly service and for the food/quality very inexpensive. One of the best dining options in CUN we think.

We were recommended to this restaurant by the concierge of our hotel when I asked him where to go for yucatan cuisine downtown, away from the tourist strip. He recommended labna, and even told us which dishes to order- the lime soup and the pork pibil. He was so right- the lime soup is absolutely wonderful, the decor lovely, service great, and prices are very reasonable. I'm sorry we didn't have time to go back again, as I've already tried making lime soup and it just can't compare to theirs!

The cuisine from Yucatan is quite different from the typical Mexican food. It is a full fledged "cuisine" in its own right. But very labor-intensive processes and hard to find ingredients prevent it from being more widely known. In Cancun, Labna is the place locals recommend for "comida yucateca", from a taxi driver to a concierge. It is in the city of Cancun, which means a bus ride or a $12 taxi ride, and it is well worth the effort. The restaurant resembles a Mayan construction and it is very pleasant. Service is extraordinary. The manager/owner personally made sure we got a good tasting of the different foods and explained the elaboration process and ingredients to us. The food itself was amazing, and we ate until we could eat no more: Panuchos, Zalbutes, Papadzules, Relleno Negro, Sopa de Lima, Cochinita, Queso Relleno. Prices are more than reasonable for the service and the food. If you are interested in the cuisine from Yucatan this is the place to go in Cancun.

We have been staying at one of upscale Cancun resorts for about a week and already tired of places that cater to tourists. Luckily I came across the Labna Restaurant, an authentic, clean Mayan restaurant in the middle of a modest neighborhood. First, we were concerned of the location until we stepped in. We were greeted by Tomas, a well mannered gentleman who walked us to our table. He was warm and hospitable. He took his time to answer our questions and went beyond the norm to explain to us Mayan cuisine. We stated with the Lime soup, a must for all first time visitors. It is comparable to Tortilla soups, with shredded white chicken meat cooked in lime juice. Then we ordered the grouper, cooked mayan way, wrapped with basil leaves and steamed in its own broth under an aluminum foil. The grouper was fresh, not frozen and was not a tilapia as is commonly and wrongly substituted in fine restaurants. Then we went to desert, Tomas suggested the coconut custard and the papaya cooed in mayan honey syrup. What an experience, it is the highlight of our trip.
For the cost, prices are moderate. We were a party of 5 (3 teenagers) and ended up spending about 1500 pesos. This included 5 Maragritas, few soda,....
If you are ever in Cancun, make sure you don't miss this gem.
