“Shouldn't pay this kind of money, and leave hungry....”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Unfortunately, I agree with the recent negative reviews.
I won't go into details, but one shouldn't pay that kind of money and leave hungry.
We (me and my husband and hungry 15 year old son) dined there... well aware of the 'tourist' factor.. And thought we would go for the Mariachis experience.

Not only was the food limited... not served with rice, extra tortilla's, chips.... Nothing, But I actually had to keep using my hand to keep blocking the wait staff from taking our food back off of the table, before my son had the chance to scarf down anything that night be left-over.

Yes, they have the full Mariachi Band... and a couple of the lead musicians were good, with a good attitude. But, in all honesty, even have the members of the Mariachi band did not look all that happy to be there.

There have to be way to many much better options.

“It's about the presentation”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

If you are starving and just want to eat and be done with it, this place may not be for you. Sure, you could get the waiter to bring you the food menu right away, but it's really not that type of place. Here, they appear to be set on the experience and the presentation. When we went, there was a 12-piece mariachi group, and then a separate two-piece group roaming from table to table. The servers are very friendly, and are set on making sure you have a good time. When you're seated, you are given a drink menu, and only a drink menu. After you've ordered drinks, you get to look at the food menu. The food is good. I don't remember anything remarkable, but I know there wasn't anything that stood out as horrible or tasteless. They have some cute quotations painted on the walls. Go to the attached gift shop if you need some good tequila - they have plenty. If you call for reservations, ask them if they have fixed their smoke alarm. It was beeping every 30 seconds when we were there, which made it a little annoying.

“I expected more”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

Reading the reviews here and elsewhere, I expected the experience of dining at La Destilleria to be a bit more wonderful. The food was good but the service was inattentive and the setting/ambiance was average. There are lots of choices for dining in Cancun and nothing about this experience made me want to recommend it.

“Good tequila, food and atmosphere”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Chanced by La Distileria and had a great meal. The restaurant is oriented toward tourists, and thus the price reflects that reality.

Our food was great, as was the service - which was prompt, attentive and professional.

The welcome drink (margarita type cocktail) was very welcome!

“Used to be good”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Place has always been a tourist trap, but the last time we were there it had really gone down hill. Bad food, LOUSEY service and very expensive for what they serve. Also check your bill! There were things on there that we didn't order
