Violante's vision for a mix of Italian coffee and pasta, with home grown Mexican herbs, vegies and recipes in a quinessentially Mexican location is such a find. Located in the original Spratling home a little cobblestone hike up from the main plaza, it is such an interesting and historical location! Be sure to take time to look at the beautiful silver pieces on display while you are there. Excellent food in a lovely, quiet setting, with a charming and informative host. Don't miss it!

Lasagne in mole sauce! Red cabbage fajitas. Home made breads and pastries. Great coffee. All graciously served in the home of William Spratling where his work, drawings and silver pieces can be enjoyed as well as the work of contemporary silver designers of Taxco. From the zocolo, facing the silver shops, take the street to the right of shops up the hill to the first left; continue on to the street with the staircase and take a right, climb the stair street to the top where the sign S Caffecito will welcome you. Worth the climb, the food, the collections, the view.

Great coffee and lasagna! But for those who collect Spratling, or have read his "File On Spratling" about not just his love of Taxco but his love for his first little house there, this is the Mecca. You can feel him in the rooms--and see examples of great silver design as well.

Located in the original Spratling home in Taxco ... we came across this wonderful place and stopped in for coffee but discovered it was so much more. The coffee was delightful but the conversations and the history of the place multiplied the experience. The owner is an engaging and energetic person and I was completely taken in by the conversation. The time slipped past so quickly ... it was such a pleasant experience. If you have the opportunity, stop in for coffee and a conversation. Or for a meal. Or stay for the night, or a week, or a month. You won't be disappointed. Happy travels!!!
