Four of us ( two couples) visited Taxco in early May and stayed here 5 nights. My husband and I have visited Taxco before though a long time back and stayed at Monte Taxco ( a very nice stay also), but this time we wanted to be close to the main square. I chose Hotel Los Arcos based on TA comments though I was concerned about the low price. Our stay was lovely and once again, TA reviews did not deceive us. The location could not be better, just around the corner from the main square ( where a festival was going on each night) but we couldn't hear any of it from our room. The hotel is incredibly charming with different nooks and stairways and a lovely courtyard where the restaurant is located. The front desk staff was so helpful, directing us to a laundry and outside restaurants. Our room was fairly simple but plenty large enough and spotlessly clean. We used a fan at night and were perfectly comfortable. One thing to note was the impressive and varied framed textiles hung as art in our room and the public areas. There is also a small but well curated assortment of textiles and handcrafts from Oaxaca and Guerrero for sale in the lobby. Both my husband and I and our traveling companions were totally charmed by Hotel Los Arcos and would definitely recommend it. I believe the restaurant is operated separately but it was seamlessly integrated and we enjoyed breakfast there each morning as well as dinner one night.

Room tip: Our room was one flight up and backed to the courtyard, giving a peek of the activity below.

This gem
Of a Hotel is conveniently located blocks from the Zocalo and silver shopping. Tasteful decor, excellent rooftop views, clean nice rooms and great service. It will not disappoint you. WiFi in room is inconsistent. Opt for ground floor as stairs are challenging.

We picked this hotel because of the good reviews and we loved it. The lobby, the outdoor space and the room are just spectacular! The room is clean and quiet. We got enough sunshine coming into the room. The deco is so authentic and makes you feel like home. Will definitely come back if we come back to Mexico!

It's in a great location, just around the corner from Santa Prisca. The entrance is very unassuming, just a couple of doors off the street (one for the hotel, one for the restaurant). The building dates from 1572 so no elevator but amazing architecture and a fabulous rooftop terrace for guests to hang out. The restaurant is in the courtyard, and is very nice with great food, but it they were more enterprising they would have put it on the roof terrace the view is that good. The rooms are arranged around a courtyard so they are quiet with no street noise.

The free Wifi works great but only in the main floor restaurant, not in the rooms. There are TVs and hair dryers but no fridge. So it doesn't have every amenity expected in a modern hotel, but it preserves the ambience of a historic building - well worth the trade off.

The staff are wonderful and caring, they even put out food and water for the local dogs.

We have heard many good comments about this hotel. Please allow me to point out some cons here.
1) Wifi is not available in the room. Not everywhere as advertised.
2) Two many narrow steps to reach room on the 3rd floor.
3) The restaurant is unrelated to the hotel and you have to pass the restaurant to go to your room.
4) No glass/cup provided in the room.
5) Room on 3rd floor was warm (in March?) as your have to close the window and covering to lower the street noise and to protect privacy.

We stayed there for two nights and found this property above average.
