casual but very warmful place. We enjoyed very much thé hospitalité of our hosts always concerned with our happyness. This Is exactly what you CAN expect in the deep chiapas, a place not too luxurious but confortable enough to rest and enjoy and online with thé Spirit of the country.

Hola Doudougs,
I want to thank you for your kind words and for staying with us at Sol y Luna. Chiapas is indeed a great place to enjoy Mexico and San Cristobal is perhaps the shinning center of the magic. I was interested in your rating of Cleanliness and Room where you gave Sol y Luna an average rating. We take pride in our rooms and strive for a clean and healthy environment. If you have the time we would like to hear from you how we can improve both the room and the cleanliness. Thanks again for your stay and your kind words. We look forward to your assistance in helping us make Sol y Luna even better for our future guests.

Sol y Luna is lovely hacienda with flowered courtyard, wood and native decor in the rooms, full breakfast, and friendly staff. The good price and location (right off the main square) were also much appreciated. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

We were in Chiapas between Christmas and New Years. Trying to find a B and B was challenging during that time of the year, but Cisco was prompt at answering emails and very accommodating as we had to change our dates a few times. When we arrived, we were greeted by Cisco at the door and lead into a beautiful courtyard. We stayed in Sol, one of the two rooms at the B and B and were delighted with the wonderfully artistic decor and fireplace in the room. We also got a tour of his artist studio and orchid garden where he is cultivating rare orchids from all over the country for species preservation. Breakfast was delicious each morning and with only a few guests other than ourselves, we got to know the other people staying there. Cisco is a knowledgable and enthusiastic guide, eager to share his expertise on places to visit around the area. The B and B is centrally located within easy walking distance of markets and restaurants. New years eve was fantastic with more fireworks than we had ever seen in our lives. We do not recommend trying to fly home on New Year's Day, however, because people stay up all night and the taxi accommodations to the airport are very limited.

We were here in 2011 and loved it so much we returned in 2012 too! Cisco and Dani were friendly and helpful and creative and interesting -- and we also explored the naturalist project where they are gathering local orchids in their natural environment. Many specimens were being thrown out like trash as areas were cleared for construction, and this project for the orchids is a refuge. We enjoyed breakfasts - different ones each day, or as we requested -- in the beautiful dining area off the kitchen, clean and filled with beautiful local crafts. We visited local towns and hiked in the parks nearby, and had a tour and dinner at the local Nabalom center. There's lots to see and experience around San Cristobal de las Casas from this a great location with wonderful hosts!

My trip in March of 2013 was cut short by a death in the family, but the four nights I spent at Sol y Luna were really great. The delicious breakfast and conversation with the family was a welcoming way to start the day and expressed how much Cisco and Dani care about their guests. The room I stayed in the back of the house was beautiful and quiet, and I had my own bathroom, which was also nice. Sol y Luna is in a central part of the city and it's easy to walk to many sights, which I did every day I was there. Cisco gave great advice about places to go and things to see. When I had to leave abruptly, he was very understanding and helped me to make arrangements to leave. It was a very memorable trip, and I left telling Sol y Luna that I would return someday.

Room Tip: The room in the back by the kitchen is quiet and large. I am a writer and was pleased that there wa...

This is a beautiful homely bed and breakfast (and was Fi's favourite place to stay in mexico). Cisco and Dani are the most wonderful hosts. Extremely helpful and hospitable as well as relaxed and friendly. Cisco is genuinely excited to share knowledge of his favourite things in San Cristobal and has a great sense of humour. The breakfast they provide was the best we had in all of mexico! Delicious locally grown Chiapas coffee and fruits, tortillas with frijoles and eggs one day and Cisco's amazing porridge the next. They also had really delicious looking tamales from the market but we couldn't eat them because we're vegetarian.
Rooms are lovely & spacious, decorated with framed photographs, textiles and carvings made by artisans in the area. The bed was comfortable, although we could have used more pillows. Wifi worked great. The ensuite bathroom was modern and hot water/ water pressure was perfect.
The location is good as it is less than a 5 minute walk to the central part of town where there are markets, shops, cathedrals and restaurants. Calle Tonala itself is quiet though so you arent bothered too much by noise. We visited in September when it would rain after about 2 or 3pm so we found that an umbrella was definitely necessary. And wear shoes with grip because then the paving stones can be slippery.
One of the best things about staying here is Cisco and Dani's kids and cats who are all very cute. Although we are both in our mid-20s we wanted to stay somewhere with a feeling like we were staying with friends or family and it was nice to have them around in the morning although we spent most of the days/nights out or relaxing in our room. The house is built in the style where there is a central outdoor courtyard with the rooms built around it. It's very charming, completely different from the style of house in Australia and conducive to family life. All in all, we loved staying here and must thank Cisco and Dani again for all their hospitality! We would love to visit San Cristobal again one day.

Staying at Sol y Luna is a wonderful experience that adds to the magic of San Cristobal. Cisco and his family are excellent hosts. The experience here is more akin to a home-stay with the family's children being quite comfortable interacting with guests. Depending on your disposition this could be a positive or negative, but for me the kids were a delight, and it was a great way to practice Spanish. Dani's cooking is excellent with her serving a variety of foods and she is very open to adjusting the menu to needs and tastes.
Both Cisco and Dani are great guides to the city and surrounding area so hitting them up for tips on where to go and where to eat is recommended. Also if you are flower / plant lover then SyL not only has an amazing garden but Cisco also runs an Orchid sanctuary which is a great experience.
