“A little france in Mexico”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

We found this little gem en route to climbing the little "mirador guadalupe" for the view. We were treated to delightful warm, spicy sweet glasses of mulled wine, by the extraordinarly welcoming husband and wife team from france that run the place and speak English, French and Spanish. The french-style sandwiches with melted cheeses in the middle and either fried egge with the yummy gooy egg yolk enriching every bite, was both totally fiilling, and the hints of herbs sprinkled among the tomato slices, delicate. Me and my guest shared a a kind of delightful combination of a kind of half chicken salad, half french fry salad brought together with a rich cream, that again managed to feel both healthy and devilishly indulgent. This is by far the best french restaurant I've found in Mexico yet, and its intimate feel left time for me to chat amicably with the waiter and other customers in both english and spanish.

“Nice french cuisine in a french Atmosphere”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

El Chalet is a real french chalet; hot vine, the best french fries in san cristobal and a good selection of wines.

“French food in Mexico”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

This is a very tiny restaurant with lots of atmosphere. If you want to sit and relax and have some great food this is the place. We had their melted cheese sandwich with 2 different dipping sauces, a french mustard from France and a raspberry vinaigrette served with mulled wine and it was out of this world. They offer French wines and their recipes are actual family secrets they brought with them. Thank you Ben for a wonderful relaxing evening. I will definitely go back.

“Nice start, good potential”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

Went today to try out the restaurant, Very small and quaint. The owners are very friendly and personable. They just opened 3 months ago. A very limited menu. We were 3 persons and each tried a different dish. Typical French fare. I had the beef bourguignon. Rare today where one finds a restaurant that will marinate the meat for 24 hours in the wine. Normally they cook it fast in a sauce with the wine added on the moment. meat was very tender and tvery tasty. The accompanying fries were really good also.

Definitely worth trying out out when in San Cristobal. hopefully they will add daily or weekly specials so one can try typical different French fare like it is supposed to be done.

“Cosy and delicious”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We went and had a lovely Sunday afternoon meal at this quaint little eatery. The beouf bourguignon was very good, made with local ingredients and herbs from the restaurant's garden. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Really a great experience, would definitely go back.
they have a good happy hour as well.
