I really liked this place and am so happy to have finally made my way there. There is a vegan option - two, actually - the chana masala and a spinach dish can be made with garbanzo beans also. Both were of high quality and were quite tasty, and both were served with unlimited rice and bread (something nan-like), and a small pickled salad. They also make a lavender limonada which is also very good. Just as nice as the dinner were the two people who made and served the food - inviting, friendly, helpful, kind.

The restaurant is small - a just a few parties will pack the place. When we arrived we were the first people there, but by the time we left every seat was taken.

Upon seeing other reviews, we found this place easily (But note: their street number is 1B, NOT 7), but blink & you will miss this place. It's a small double door entry as it's shopfront. My husband cooks both Thai & Indian curry from scratch, grinding whole spices (instead of cheating of buying pre-mixed curry spice a lot of average Indian restaurant do) & could take 8-10 hours preparing a curry dish. As soon as we tasted her curry (pork is our favourite), we can tell this is the genuine deal with fresh spice made with love. Before you know it, my husband & the chef is comparing curry recipes & we found the owner very friendly & generous. She takes 12 hours to make the curry & the depth of the curry reflects that. Her curry is as authentically Indian as you would get, and no doubt surpasses most average indian restaurant runs by indians using shortcut to their curry. We could only count in 1 hand how many Indian restaurant really makes the curry from scratch

The only thing I had to dis-agree with other reviewers is the size of the dish. We actually found it very generous. Don't forget, you are buying a "plate meal" for 55 peso (cheap for San Cristobal), which means it's a rice dish with curry for one person. The only mistake she mades is then serving the curry in a little bowl, separate to the rice & naan bread (home-made), rather than straight on the plate, so it gives people the illusion of getting a "small" curry dish. Because people starts to compare an Indian curry you order individually as a dish, not as a plate meal. We personally was extremely full after having a plate of curry plate meal each, and we are no small eaters.

Do not miss out on one of the best indian food we have ever eat out in indian restaurant, and we are comparing her to worldwide standard! She opens from 1pm-7pm, and close on Sunday & Wednesday I think!

A nice little place if you want something a little different. Decent curries, but nothing special. I liked the curry dish with the pork. The others were rather bland for my taste. But most people seem to enjoy the restaurant.

It is worth walking a bit outside the main streets to discover this charming little place and to eat the delicious curries proposed there. Good and simple atmosfere and warm welcome by Reiko, the Japanese chef. Buen provecho !

This is a little hole in the wall that has wonderful curry dishes and a curry "burrito". It's small - three tables, the owner, a lovely Japanese woman, runs it alone and the food is such a nice change from Mexican fare. I had a tomato almond paneer (Indian homemade cheese) curry and my friend had the spinach paneer curry - both came with a homemade "bread". The prices were quite economical really and so tasty. Definitely try this place for a change of pace.
