My husband and I were on our honeymoon and stayed for several nights at Hotel Hacienda Don Juan in San Cristobal. The colonial city is amazing and the hotel was just splendid. The owner, Don Juan, and his attentive staff were so friendly, warm, and helpful for all of our needs. We just felt like we were with family.

The hotel is more of an inn and has beautiful gardens throughout and lots of family antiques from the original hacienda. It was remodeled into this amazing facility a year ago and it seems like you are walking into history as you enter. Each room has a fireplace which is lit by the attendants each night and believe me, that is great in this less than hot climate.

The restaurant was so beautiful and the food was excellent and inexpensive. They also take you on tours and adventues if you wish and we found them lots of fun and very personal.

We just loved the inn and think it the very best in San Cristobal.

My wife, two children and I stayed at Hotel Hacienda Don Juan for a week in early May to enjoy the San Cristobal surroundings. All of our experiences were very positive and we cannot say enough good things about the hotel and restaurant. The staff were so attentive and thoughtful at all times. The grounds were so beautifully done with tropical plants and flowers everywhere. In the restaurant there is a fireplace that is lit whenever we wish it and the food and service were exceptional. We felt so much like it was home for us which is important in our travels. They also have a tourist guide that does private expeditions, including adventure treks with kayaks which we all loved. It was probably our best experience in Mexico yet and we have traveled considerably. This is by far the best in San Cristobal and not expensive either.

Having stayed in San Cristobal on many occasions, Hotel Hacienda Don Juan, is the finest available, and truly one of the best I have stayed in throughout Mexico. The attention to detail is out of this world and all of the staff, from owners to maids, are so friendly, helpful and accomodating. It apparently took over four years to convert a historical hacienda into this beautiful inn with gardens everywhere. Their architecture, antiques, and respect for the history of the original hacienda are all wonderful. I just felt like I was reliving Mexico in the 17th century but with all the present day needs met as well. Their restaurant and tour services were equally good as well. Oh, and I might add that the two reviews of this hotel, suggesting a pool and fishing tours, are for a different hotel in Ensenada. They should be taken off of this review list.

We stay a week at this hotel and we know now what it is to be treathed as royalty, the owner is an excellent person so all the people that works over there that are paying attention to all the little details to keep u as comnfortable as possible, giving us great adivices to where to go.

The owner and staff could not do enough to help us in our stay with nothing being too much trouble for them. They really do offer a 'personal touch' but also without being intrusive

The rooms are typical old mexican house very nice a comfortable nice gardens all is great!

The Hacienda has a good connection for charter fishing. At 1 time, they had two boats - a panga and a Luhrs cabin cruiser. They are working on a Radon now. Protected parking inside the courtyard with locked roll-up gate and video monitors. Some rooms are better than others and it pays to take a look. Tuna Tom (former pro footballer) and Juanito are there to run to the show. Paul (3rd partner) occasionally is there and may be the most business savvy of them all. They got a hot tub spa but it isn't hooked up yet. The waterfall/pool is unheated but there is no extra fee for it. Most accomodating - just let them know what you want.
Good food down the road and across the street. Might have gone through a name change recently...
