I had a great time at Posada Del Abuelito. The managers are very warm, welcoming and always willing to help you with anything. The breakfast is delicious. I enjoyed the nice evenings we had next to the fireplace, listening to music or watching a movie...I planned to stay 3 days in San Cristobal, but I just couldn't leave this place. Thanks for everything and see you soon!Aurelia.

I was slightly disappointed when I didn't find a couch surfing host in San Cristobal. However I found this hostel and wouldn't have traded my two days there for anything.

The hostel itself has excellent facilities, places to hang out in the sun or shade during the day, and under the stars or by an open fire by night. The beds are comfy the showers have pressure and you even get a lockable box for your valuables.

Rob and Bex are really friendly, superbly knowledgeable experienced travellers themselves and happy to advice you on how to get the best of your stay.

I could go on, but I'd soon run out of compliments :)

I've travelled in various continents and countries and this is by far one of the best hostels I've ever experienced. It's central in the city, has it's own kitchen and nearby supermarkets and the management are very knowledgeable about the city and what to do in the area. It's got a relaxed atmosphere, wonderful hot showers and to top it all off a fireplace which is perfect for the cool winter evenings.

Room Tip: Our room didn't face the inner courtyard which probably meant it was a bit quieter.

Great management, very friendly, they also recommend culturally sensitive tours. Very hot showers and a nice fireplace. shame the "guard duck" had migrated for winter!

This place is phenomenal. I have been staying in hostels while traveling for a number of years, and Abuelito is one of the best. Lots of character, clean comfortable rooms, and a phenomenal location are some of the highlights. An enjoyable couple minutes of walking through beautiful San Cristobal brings your right into the heart of the city. The folks who work here are on point and they really want the guests to enjoy themselves. Unlike most free hostel breakfasts, this one is actually good food. The owners also have a restaurant called Kitcsh in the city center which is fantastic as well. It has a great patio in the back with BBQ ribs! All in all, I would highly recommend Abuelito if you are visiting San Cristobal.
