“Brilliant steak!”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

I have lived in New York so I am pretty fussy when it comes to steaks. I had one of my best steaks ever at this place (better than any steak I have had in Australia and up there with the best New York steak houses). Be warned, that as a kiwi/Aussie you will need to order at least 1 notch above your normal preference eg If you normally order medium rare, order medium. There were 12 of us and we all raved about the steaks, particularly the one called chorizo (don't be fooled by the name, it has nothing to do with sausages)

“Not real Argentinian beef”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

We were disappointed that the steaks we had were bland meat from Canada so it wasn't what we expected. Service a bit haphazard. Not recommended.

“Excellent choice”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

We decided to have a change from Mexican food on day 12 of our tour and El Argentino was a good choice. Good atmosphere , superb service and excellent food . We shared a starter ,dessert and a good bottle of wine and had a beautifully cooked medium rare steak each. A little expensive by Mexican standards.

“Good steaks and good service”
Reviewed January 22, 2014 via mobile

So now and then your done with tacos and tortillas. It looks a little touristic, but keep in mind that all places in San Cristobal are full with tourists. This Argentine steak place was a good change of our daily menu. Nice juicy steaks and good empanadas. And we ordered a great Argentinian Malbec.

“Overpriced and incompetent kitchen”
Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

Very poor for one of the very expensive restaurants in San Cristobal. Empanadas that were pushed onto us to order were cold, bread stale, and the steak - their specialty of course - was raw for both of us after being sent back not once but TWICE! After alerting them to all of these facts they did not do anything. Then a complementary caramel desert arrived which was nice had it not had super icy and rancid icecream that should not be served. If you plan to charge $30-80 dollar for a steak, you should be able to get the basics right. Street food it seems is the better way to go rather than overpriced poorly procured food like this. It's amazing how some restaurants continue to exist!!
