“No hot water - only complaint”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

Convenient location 2 blocks from Zocalo on a straight road. Quiet during the evening I stayed, good nights sleep but had no hot water during the stay. Nice bar area, friendly staff. Large rooms with nice bathroom. Retains old styles with modern bathrooms

We stayed there for 7 nights, the hotel is well located , clean , staff was very helpful and friendly.

We ate at the restaurant the first night we got there, out of a 10 rating i would say 4, then the next morning we went for breakfast, the coffe was bad, toast was warmed bread, fruit was dry from being on plate to long and eggs were very cold, there was only 3 tables occupied at this time, next morning had pancakes, cold and all the rest the same, third day had the yogurt and cereal, yogurt was warm and cereal was corn flakes, the rest was the same bad coffee ect. Avoid the restaurant at all costs, even though we paid for the breakfast with out room we ate at other places.

They would do better if they closed restaurant as that is the only reason i would not stay there again, we go to San Cristobal twice per year.

Sad when nice hotel can not find a decent cook, by the way we had no complaints about the restaurant. service as they were very attentive just plain bad food

Room Tip: Try to book with no meals included as we did enjoy the hotel and there staff

A hacienda style hotel, close to the centre of town. Unfortunately, the rooms are built around a central courtyard which houses the bar and restaurant, so noise is a real issue. We asked to be moved elsewhere, which although better, didn't entirely solve the problem. Some of our travelling companions were kept up until 1am.

Our room looked lovely and was clean, but it was so cold, it was miserable. There was no heating, but we were able to get an electric heater from reception, which at least allowed us to warm up the bathroom. Beds were very firm! No in room safe, no tea/ coffee making facilities, no iron, no bottled water.

Food in the restaurant was dire. Breakfast was stone cold and the scrambled eggs resembled rubble, so eat elsewhere.

This hotel is in the center of San Cristobal, about 6 min from the center. The room was clean but small. There wasn't enough place for our 2 luggages. Unfortunately, the staff didn't understand english at all. In the restaurant, for example, we asked for an omelette ( because there wasn't a buffet) and it was very complicated for them to understand what we mean. Three members of the restaurant weren't capable to understand what we wanted for the breakfast. After a long explanation, we finally got our omelette.

I spent 5 nights in this hotel and I was pleasently surprised by the quality and the cleanliness. The staff was very helpful with my many request and it's a place I would definitely choose again.

Stayed here for one night on an escorted tour. The hotel has a good location, 5 blocks from the main square. It has a beautiful Mexicam style with modern facilities but traditional decoration. Beds were on the firm side but very comfortable. They do have a wifi service but i could only access this in the lobby. The restaurant is pretty good, not a great deal of choice but what we did have was very good and fairly reasonably priced. I was a little disappointed with breakfast - a fruit plate and then a small portion of either eggs or pancakes - not really enough to see you through until a late lunch or a long tour. I can recommend the bars in the centre, they serve fantastic mojitos anf have great live music - head for the lively bar beside the blue building!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Mansion del Valle during a week long trip through Chiapas and we were very pleased with the room, the furnishings, modern tv, and wonderful shower (great water pressure). True, because the hotel has a covered courtyard, it can get a bit noisy, but during the night it was always very quiet and we slept very well. Overall I would recommend this hotel! The restaurant is not worthwile, with so many great breakfast and dinner options in San Cristobal, skip the hotel restaurant! (Try the tamales that are sold on the same street, when exiting the hotel to the left about one block towards downtown on the righthand side, absolutely amazing!)

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel (away from the courtyard)
