Good place for breakfast with great baked goods. However, my recent lunch there was unpleasant. The main course of chicken was bland and the meat served on the bone was tough and stringy. We dined in the interior courtyard. The owner allows dogs to roam around the tables which is very unpleasant. I prefer not to have a dog begging at my table. As well, said dog defecated in the courtyard close to our table. It was extremely unpleasant and certainly turned me off this space.

I was here in the late 80s and the place has not changed a bit! Absolutely wonderful and it is still runned by the same owner. Lovely food, more than fair price, just a pitty that it is ranked so low.
Our sons even asked to go back twice since they loved the food so much, does not happen often!
I do believe the address on the map is wrong and that is maybe the reason people do not find it.
Keep up the place without changing it to much! It was a food highlight in a very much changed San Cristobal with to many "rubbish" restaurants with to many good reviews.
Go for it and try it out you will not regret this at all!!!

The madre uses real ranch eggs with golden orange yolks and great salsa. The rooster is still there and my dog is welcome (rooster friendly). The owner, Eduardo Talavera, speaks English and French fluently and is the sweetest, friendliest and most helpful guy around. Everything is whole grain, even the pizza and lasagna. There is a brand new shop with textiles and hand made shoes which are beautiful and high end. Bar upstairs at night with good local music and Pinguinos bike tours has an office there as well. Good bulletin board at front door. Excellent cappuccino.

It's like stepping back to the 1960s with a focus on simple, wholesome food. The menu offers many dishes for vegetarians, with fresh ingredients and generous portions. Try the lentil soup, fresh whole wheat bread and a great lasagna. Chicken or fish are also good choices. A big plus is their bakery with wonderful whole wheat cinnamon rolls....a great way to start your day. We always eat here when we are in San Cris....great value for your money.

The location and setting are beautiful and homey (a rooster was strutting around our table the last time we were there, very much at home and "in charge" of the place), but the service is slow even by local standards, the food is so-so, and the last time we were there (morning), there was no coffee to be had. It seems their strength is as a wholesale baker, and not so much as a restaurant. It boasts a lovely old courtyard to eat in, but atmosphere only goes so far....
