My husband and I first discovered this restaurant around 30 years ago. It has been serving locals and visitors since 1948. Carmen, the owner oversees her cooks, many who have been with her for over 30 years.
The food is simply presented, but complex in its flavors. The sopa de guias is a country style dish made with squash vines. They serve the full range of delicious moles. The verde and amarillo are my favorites.
We ate several meals at La Coronita trying the different dishes and loved them all. Carmen was even kind enough to share information about the ingredients, making for a warm and personal experience.
We can't wait to get back to Oaxaca and La Coronita.
