“Great atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

I found the food to be just fine and the atmosphere great! The ceiling was retracted so that while we were actually indoors it felt as if we were dining outdoors with a very eclectic group of people. Worth the visit......

“Favorite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

I still think of the meal we ate there when ever I crave Mexican. - And I just got home from Baja, where all of the food fell short of the bar that Biznaga creates.

You should make an effort to lunch there if in Oaxaca, tranquil little oasis in a confusing city.

I was just looking through some old boxes of ephemera and found the Biznaga's little farewell chocolate. Reminded me how wonderful it was.

-Bonus... they will make you a fresh lime margarita in a to go cup.

“Great splurge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This is a really lovely restaurant near Plaza Domingo. The food is pretty expensive ($150 pesos for the three course lunch menu) but good place for a splurge. The lunch specials are great as they come with a shot of artesenal mezcal. It is also completely filled with gringos so not exactly a "local" place but the food seems to be reliable, service is good and the courtyard is fantastic. Also, they are closed on Sundays (as are many places in the centro)

“Buen provecho”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Delicious food, but quite rich. The owner is there participating in all aspects, but is not very friendly. It seems to be a place that is catering to tourists. With that said, the food, which is the reason for going there is quite good. They have excellent sauces with their entrees and portions sizes are good, presentation is lovely. I ordered a the Zandunga, which was a chicken and plantain roll in a tamarind chili sauce. It was very good, but a bit too rich to finish the whole plate.

“la Biznaga needs a Battery Boost”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

This restaurant has always been a favourite on our visits to Oaxaca. However, this time we couldn’t help but feel that it is resting on its laurels and not up to what it was. It appears that it remains very much a favourite with gringo tourists. The week before someone we knew had their purse stolen – an open target - as it was slung on the back of a chair. We couldn’t help but notice how common this was among the women and men with cameras who were dining there. People – do not do this anywhere!! The service was just okay as we had to constantly catch the waiter’s attention. They still make a good Margarita and their postres are second to none. Try the Cinco Hermanos and go straight to heaven! Be sure to look over your bill. When ours was finally presented, it had items on it that we never had. La Biznaga feels a little sloppy and needs a boost.
