OHMYGOODNESS! It's a great spot -- salt-spiked jicama and chili peanuts as bar snacks -- how can you go wrong. But definitely watch the margaritas. More than one and you might require a little help walking home.

If you are needing a Margaritas, go to the lovely courtyard at La bisnaga. Service was a little slow, but then we are go-go Americans who hadn't quite slowed down yet.

This restaurant just a block from Santo Domingo de Guzman is a delight. It is frequented by many locals with imaginative presentations of traditional and fusion-style offering. My friends loved the margaritas and I enjoyed a pint of dark Mexican beer brewed in Mexico City from a large selection. Everyone loved their food choices. The menu offerings are listed on 2 huge chalkboards with lots of choices. As one of the signs mentions, this is VERY SLOW FOOD but the wait is worth it and a good place to relax and enjoy the airy feel of the courtyard dining area. If you want to try some mezcal, they have a huge selection.

La Biznaga is always crowded with both tourists and Oaxacans. It is very pretty and somehow just hip. I recommend the appetizers and drinks more than the main courses. Soups are also delicious. You have to go at least once.

Chalkboard menu, interesting creations. Fast service and bustling place. One block from Santo Domingo.
