Casa Los Arquitos B&B
Ranked #63 of 132 Oaxaca B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 31, 2013

Our week with Juan and Patricia started on Christmas night, and we were sorry to leave when New Year's Day rolled around. Our hosts were friendly, very accommodating, but never intrusive. The location of Casa Los Arquitos is perfect -- a short walk from the city center, but in a quiet neighborhood away from the bustle and street life. While the accommodations were not luxe, we have no complaints; we were very comfortable and felt the place was very much in tune with the Oaxacan spirit. We enjoyed the company of the other guests at breakfast -- again, friendly but appropriately respectful of boundaries. We hope to return to Oaxaca soon, and when we do, we'll hope to book another stay at Casa Los Arquitos.

Just returned from a ten day visit to Oaxaca, Mexico. Stayed at Casa los Arquitos, a wonderful B&B in a quiet area of the city with easy access to every area of the city.
This place is a treasure. Patricia and Luis are gracious hosts and make sure their guests have all that they need.
A wonderful breakfast is served with freshly squeezed fruit juice, fresh fruit, yogurt etc.
The rooms are simply and attractively furnished and spotless. Sheets are changed daily.
Place is incredibly priced. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: All rooms are in interior, surrounded by court yard. Can't go wrong,

We stayed at this delightful B&B for eight nights. The price was right, the location is excellent, the place is clean, the owners are friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.

That said, it would take very little to make this place even better than what it is. Our room was small with very little room for our suitcases. The sink is small without room for toiletries. Breakfast was good but repetitive. Maybe it would be fine for three nights, but after eight you long for something a bit more fun that yogurt, fruit and bread.

Also, the two courtyards could be dressed up a bit more to make them more inviting and usable. Instead, they become more transit areas than anything else. A couple of more comfortable chairs, a hammock and a few more tables would dress up the communal areas. Any time we were at the hotel during the day we ended up staying in the room because the outdoors was not inviting enough.

That said, Juan and Patricia are delightful and the accommodation was very nice. Let's file my observations under "constructive criticism"

Stayed 5 nights and had a wonderful experience! Juan and patty are wonderful host who make you feel like a part of their family. Located in a peaceful neighborhood 10 min away from the the more fast pace center. Great restaurant, galleries, parks, history just blocks away.

This is an excellent choice if your looking for a beautiful and relaxed place that is charming and sparkleing clean. Situated across from the historic aqueduct it's a great location to explore the city. The street is quiet with little traffic so you'll have a more tranquil experience. Close to Santo Domingo, there are many good restaurants and cafes nearby. Hosts Juan and Patricia treat you like cherished friends and help you navigate the city, and they provide a nice fresh breakfast. They have a beautiful patio to sit, WIFI and a common computer room and library to use.

We stayed here for our honeymoon during Dia de los Muertos last year and had a wonderful stay. Juan an Patricia are the most gracious of hosts and their B&B is tranquil and beautiful. We could not recommend it enough. If you are traveling to Oaxaca, it is a must-stay!

We visited Oaxaca for the first time, for Christmas 2010. We stayed at Casa Los Arquitos for ten days and we loved it! Everything about it was exactly perfect. It is very central, close to the Alameda, churches, zocalo, markets... but at the same time, it is very peaceful, tucked away on a quiet, picturesque cobble street... the Arquitos area is one of the prettiest places in town, and we were lucky enough to be staying right there in the middle of it!

The house itself is lovely, attractively decorated, clean and well maintained. There are fruit trees and berries (we enjoyed orange juice from oranges picked fresh from the tree in the courtyard). There is a small library room with some travel information, books, and computer with internet access, which was very convenient. Our room was off the main courtyard, and was bright and spacious, with two comfortable beds, a desk, small table and chairs, large armoire with bar fridge, and roomy bathroom.

The best thing about Los Arquitos is Juan and Patricia! They are excellent, thoughtful and helpful hosts. Every morning, they greeted us in the dining room, where we were served breakfast (yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, a selection of local baked goods, fresh-made juice, and a hot beverage of your choice - all delicious!). They can help with sightseeing advice (thank you, Juan, for convincing us that Tlacolula Sunday Market is a must-see - it was!), call you a cab, help you make a phone call or a reservation - they clearly do care that you are happy and comfortable in their casa and their city.
