Choosing an Italian restaurant in Oaxaca my wife and I weren't sure what to expect. Within minutes we knew we'd made a great decision. We went for dinner and some relaxation. The ambiance was intimate with low lighting and a handful of tables to serve patrons. We chose a large pizza with four types of meat. While the pizza was baking we enjoyed their signature appetizer of thinly sliced and baked garlic in oil that we drizzled on their homemade bread. Wow! We'd had flavored oil on bread many times, but not like this. It was so good we were convinced there was more to the oil than baked garlic. Nope, only garlic and oil. Hector the server (and owner?) described the unique method they use to make the garlic so savory. Then the pizza came. The base was unleavened bread, like a pita. The mix of salchicha, bacon, pepperoni, and ham with just the right amount of tomato sauce and cheese was superb. We managed to polish it off later that night. Tiramisu completed the meal. It was very good and used one ingredient I hadn't had before. You'll have to try it to find out. While we did not drink alcohol, we were impressed with their wine list. Ciao Italia is on our short list of great restaurants in Oaxaca. A welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff and wonderful food are rare.

A quick walk-in and pretty ordinary spaghetti with a not bad minestrone soup. Service was amateur but we got our food. We ended up being the only clients between 5:30 and 7:00 and the three staff kinda wandered around visiting and chatting on their cell phones.
Oaxaxa has dozens of good places to eat, we were just too lazy to walk a little further. Maybe next time.

We went to this place by pure chance and we were delightfully surprised by the wonderful food. Even the locals ate here and if it wasn't for the wine bill it would have been a very cheap but wonderful night out. We had a chat to one local fellow who said that this was the best Italian restaurant in town and he was correct. We were lucky to have some really good local guitarist sing play in the tiny restaurant. People were queuing to get in with the live music. It was a wonderful night

Delicious thin crust pizza. Friendly staff. Convenient location to where we were staying. Worth a look when you are ready to sway from the Oaxacan cuisine. We were in Oaxaca for a month so the change of taste was welcome. We also had a couple of pasta dishes which were nice, but go with the pizza.

Dropped in tonight for an early dinner after a long day sightseeing. The restaurant was empty (it was only around 6pm), but the waiter was welcoming and the atmosphere was nice. I choose a mixed salad to start and fettucini Alfredo for main. The salad looked beautiful, covered in a purple dressing which tasted lovely. It was nice to have a light salad after a lot of heavy (but very tasty!) Mexican food. The pasta was simple but tasty, creamy and very garlicy. Two courses, plus a glass of wine, water and bread came to just under 200 pesos before tip. A great price for a filling and enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundinga. Worth a trip.
