The location is perfectly located near the zocalo and main sights of Oaxaca. The service was friendly, professional, and english-only speakers should note that there was always someone available to speak english. The room was immaculate, and cleaned thoroughly every day, including making delightful animals out of hand towels daily (elephants one day, teddy bear another, etc.) and folded objects out of tissue as well. A nice extra touch that showed someone wanted the stay to be memorable and pleasant. Every request was met to perfection, from renting a taxi and driver for the day (a great guide and very reasonable price, pick up and drop off at the hotel, as much time as we wanted at the various archaeological sites in the area), to an early morning taxi to the airport on return. Hotel staff promptly brought a bucket of ice when requested. In-room safe and a variety of amenities were kept replenished during our stay.
The small rooftop area was perfect for chilling out in the evenings (until 10 PM), with chairs, beautiful large potted plants, and completely private on each occasion we used it to talk about the day or following day, and relax with our drinks if need be.
The restaurant had a good selection of local cuisine at a fair price.
All in all, it was an excellent stay in a comfortable property.

Room was very clean and I love the artisanal soups they provide. Staff is excellent. Served our purpose of staying for only one night and continuing our travel next morning. Unfortunately there was some construction taking place at the building behind and literally we woke up feeling there were going to poem a hole in the wall... Good thing we had to leave.

The hotel is very quiet during night, it is close to the "Zocalo" so you can have breakfast at "The Portales" , still the hotel restaurant has a nice menu, try "Tlayudas con tasajo" or "Tasajo tacos". at night it´s very quiet, if you go out at night they close the door at 10pm but there is a staff member expecting your arrival and opens the doors for you in a second. The rooms have a wooden and cotton smell, it really makes you feel all the city´s color.

Room Tip: Suites are quiet and sunny

The hotel is just as others have said. Clean, great staff, great location, pleasant surrounds. There were birds, mostly natives ones, in small cages. Our room was right by the cardinal and oriole. They both appeared frightened and unsettled. All but one of the cages were quite small and birds could spread their wings, but pretty much had to stay confined to their perches.
Second floor standard room was comfortable and relatively quiet.
We stayed during Easter and kids' spring break, so the street noise level was high.
Average grade is due to the caged birds only.

Room Tip: Avoid third floor. Noise comes in over the top. Second floor was fine.

A group of us stayed in this boutique hotel for four nights, starting on March 6th. We liked the location very much, as it is very close to the Zocalo. The rooms were all very clean, nicely decorated, and with all the amenities one might need. The restaurant on site has very good food and reasonably priced. The staff could not be more accommodating, always helpful and ready to answer your questions. The Reservations and front desk staff were always in communication from the our date of reservation through are arrival date. All of our rooms were ready and hotel staff were waiting for us when we arrived somewhat late in the evening.
