“Don't stay if caged birds bother you”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2014

The hotel is just as others have said. Clean, great staff, great location, pleasant surrounds. There were birds, mostly natives ones, in small cages. Our room was right by the cardinal and oriole. They both appeared frightened and unsettled. All but one of the cages were quite small and birds could spread their wings, but pretty much had to stay confined to their perches.
Second floor standard room was comfortable and relatively quiet.
We stayed during Easter and kids' spring break, so the street noise level was high.
Average grade is due to the caged birds only.

Room Tip: Avoid third floor. Noise comes in over the top. Second floor was fine.

A group of us stayed in this boutique hotel for four nights, starting on March 6th. We liked the location very much, as it is very close to the Zocalo. The rooms were all very clean, nicely decorated, and with all the amenities one might need. The restaurant on site has very good food and reasonably priced. The staff could not be more accommodating, always helpful and ready to answer your questions. The Reservations and front desk staff were always in communication from the our date of reservation through are arrival date. All of our rooms were ready and hotel staff were waiting for us when we arrived somewhat late in the evening.

Hotel is conveniently situated for the Zocalo and the historic surroundings.
Large and basically furnished room and walk in shower. Pretty courtyard with
birds in cages. Breakfast not included and quite expensive compared with other
places.

I was traveling for business and wanted to be close the downtown area. This hotel is walking distance to a main square, great restaurants, and many shops, including a large indoor market. As mentioned in another review Independencia is a busy street so there can be traffic noise, but hey what do you expect downtown. The restaurant in the hotel had excellent foot at reasonable prices. Overall I really enjoyed my experience and will return if I am ever in the area again.

We stayed two nights in this lovely, small hotel, close to restaurants, shops and attractions. Avenida de Independencia is a busy street, but there are several rooms that are not disturbed by the traffic outside. We got a quiet, big room with a sitting group on the 3rd floor. Nb. no lift. Nice furniture and exquisite decorations, drinking water and toilet articles free of charge. Very comfortable twin beds. The hotel is impeccably restored and maintained, furniture and other items have been carefully chosen to fit into the setting. Inside there is a colourful atrium with birds, flowers and art objects and a nice outdoor terrace. The reception is small, but helpful. Unfortunately we had constant problems with the internet connection and ended up in an internet cafe nearby. The restaurant downstairs serves excellent lunch and dinner, but it is more expensive than other restaurants we visited. Breakfast was disappointing. There are many good breakfast places nearby.
The hotel costs more than some of the others in the neighbourhood, but it was worthwhile for a couple of nights.

Room Tip: Try rooms on the 3rd floor away from the main street

I was touring with a group and before staying here we had stayed in one of the Melia hotels in Mixico which was awful. It, therefore, was a real pleasure to stay here. All that you would hope from in an atmospheric small hotel. My room opened on to a communal balcony where there was seating, birds and lots of lovely flowers - wonderful!. The restaurant was very good and again was nicely managed. The staff seemed very willing to please their patrons. Unlike some of the other reviews I did not experience any noise. Although the room was not large it had many small touches which our hotel in Mexico lacked - complementary bottled water etc.
I would certainly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Try to get one high up with a door opening onto a communal balcony.

This was the perfect place for our week long stay. We visited February 2014 and found it to be everything and more that I expected it to be. Excellent location and close to restaurants and the Zocalo, banks and Areem is "literally" across the street for all your shipping needs! The restaurant at the hotel is also open to the public. It's cozy with tasty food, open all day and evening. The hotel itself has a very attentive and professional staff with a charming patio where several bird cages are located. Between the church bells and birds singing and soft music playing, we found it very comfortable and spent time there after touring during the day. It was a pleasure meeting other travelers in this relaxing environment. The rooms are bright and spacious and most important to us, they are spotless! They are constantly grooming around the hotel, excellent management of this property! Highly recommend this hotel, excellent vallue.

Room Tip: We had a 2nd floor room, just up the main staircase. Very convenient and quiet.
