I just returned from my stay at Casa Ollin and give it very high marks. The property is comfortable, very clean, and feels like a little oasis in the center of Oaxaca. The location was perfect, near everything but on a quiet side street. The staff is extremely helpful and helped us navigate the city and local attractions. We hired Cesar as a guide for a day. He took us wherever we wanted to go, but helped find places off the beaten path the we may not have found on our own. He also treated us to a cello concert in one of the old churches (with amazing acoustics) that ranks as one of our highlights. The breakfasts at Casa Ollin are fabulous and you probably won't be hungry at lunch.

Very friendly staff, very clean, ideally situated for walks around Oaxaca. We stayed as a group for a week and each morning we looked forward to a different Oaxacan breakfast and what a treat it was!
We stayed in the room at the front which does have the noise of the street - church bells, band practise etc. but this all added to the Oaxacan experience. Probably best to stay in one of the other rooms towards the middle of the B&B if you don't want to immerse yourself in the local sounds.

We spent a very happy few days at Oaxaca Ollin and found the staff friendly and very helpful all of the time. Our room was quite small but we had a large comfortable bed and a terrace to go out to in the morning. Breakfasts were fine - starting with fruit and then a variety of Mexican dishes and Sophia the cook was pleased when we appreciated her offerings.. The lounge/courtyard was comfortable and inviting and gave one the impression of being at home.
Being Christmastime, one dip in the swimming pool was enough to tell one that it was icy cold but we did manage to sunbathe round it.
When we had to wait until evening on our last day, we were able to leave our suitcases and come back later and relax and have a drink - something much appreciated.

You arrive in Oaxaca, tired and run down and ready to recreate in some city in Mexico, where it is forty degrees warmer than where you came from, not knowing if your stay will be good, bad or great... You step out of the cab from the airport, pay the cabbie and step across the threshold at Casa Ollin and WHAM!, you have stepped into a very cozy piece of paradise...
Jon and Judith, the owners of Casa Ollin, make each and every visitor feel welcome, like an extended member of their family. The entire staff makes you feel like you grew up in that house and never left.

Each morning, guests are greeted by Edmundo, ready to serve you breakfast that Sophie creates (different)every morning. She also oversees the kitchen daily and produces some of the freshest and tastiest local fare you can imagine. If you want something different though, no problem.

The rooms are cozy, clean and well presented each and every day, the bathrooms always spotless. Casa Ollin is strategically located just a few blocks uptown from all of the commercial old town area. There are more good quality eateries in a walking radius than you will ever be able to enjoy, so plan on staying for a while.

The pool is not heated, but so what?! It is wonderful to do a brief cool off at the end of the day with a shot (or two) of Mezcal (Jon is a good provider) and some nice local music or jazz coming from the sitting room.

Casa Ollin is truly a gem of a place, made so by an incredibly caring staff. Go south, get soothed at Casa Ollin and return home fully charged. Casa Ollin es muy bueno!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms en la casa...
