this restaurant is a bit away from the zocalo, but worth a visit for fine italian dining. Enrico, the pizza chef is excellent, making most of his ingredients in the restaurant. while there we ordered two pizzas and a salad. the house wine, also home made is delicious and we got a second to take away. the whole family is super friendly and very welcoming. the complimentery lemoncelli at the end is awesome. we had an amazing evening there. one word of warning, it is expensive in comparison to standard mexican prices, but the quality of the food and service are top notch. highly recommended for authentic italian food.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. we love the place and ended up going back again and taking some friends with us. They make there own Mozzarella, and pasta, plus Limoncello.. I have not had a better meal. We went early 7ish and it did not get busy until 8ish. They also make there own wine, but my husband did not .care for that thought it was too sweet. However that did not keep us from going back and having pasta again and again. I loved the Limoncello and thought about it in my sleep. It was the best and offered as a thank you drink at the end of the meal.

A bit off the usual tourist area but worth finding. Great Italian dishes, generous salads, wood oven fired pizzas and a good wine selection. The owner is delightful and treats you like you were family. Follows up the meal with a complementary shot of lemoncello!

Four of us ate at Mexita tonight. I came home filled, laughing and happy as a clam! I ate the beef "tenderloin," delicious taste, cooked "tres cuatros" (medium well done.) Others had the calzone, which was large and delicious; the fetuccini with zucchini and ricotta, which was creamy and flavorful; and the scaloppini, which was very tender and had a great sauce. Small bites of brochette were served before the meal, the Italian house wine was very good (dry and flavorful), limoncello was served without charge after the meal, the coffee (decaf or regular) was very good, grappa was good, and the tiramisu was light with excellent flavor. Service was excellent, both from the Mexican server (who was friendly and cute!) and the Italian owner, whom we enjoyed a lot! The setting is warm and homey, and the wood oven in the corner lends a nice smell and ambiance. Yes, it's not cheap --- we paid about $ 72 USD including taxes and generous tip, but I loved the whole evening and will do it again.

Based on the reviews here, we tried this restaurant looking for a one-meal break from the wonderful Oaxacan food we've had. We're on the foodie side of eaters, but not picky at all. We tend to like most of what's put on our table. Tonight the meal was OK, but not worth the price. It was one of the most expensive meals we had in Oaxaca, which we've visited several times. Now, I do have to point out that we did not order pizza. My husband had the beef scallopini, which came with a side salad. He liked the sauce and had no complaints. Except for the price. I ordered the fettuccine with olives and capers. It was so salty I couldn't eat it. I ended up picking out all of the olives and capers, and was able to eat the pasta and sauce. The fettuccine was fresh and the tomato sauce was pleasant. The serving was very small for the price. We had 2 glasses of the house Italian wine, which was decent. The service was good, and we enjoyed the home made Limoncello that was offered to us at the end. Two entrees (small servings), 2 glasses of wine, 40 dollars before tip. Not worth the long walk there. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things.

Saludos
Chef Enrico
