“Friendly staff, nice breakfast”
Reviewed September 22, 2010

I stayed here 3 nights and was very comfortable. You can help yourself to tea & coffee in the kitchen any time of day. There is a fridge available so guests can store their snacks. The pool was relaxing & the room was decent. There are also 2 computers with internet access. The staff is very friendly & I would recommend this place.

This hotel exceeded my expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It's a beautiful hotel in a great location, just a 5 minute walk from the Zocalo and in a really safe and smart neighborhood.
The hotel has a real family atmosphere and the service provided by the staff was excellent. We looked forward to our breakfast everyday, especially the choice of eggs!
There's an immaculate pool which we often had all to ourself. The rooms are a good size and some look out on to the pool. There's also a roof terrace, where we enjoyed an evening beer.
We ended up staying here for 6 nights as there was so much to do in and around Oaxaca city. I would definately recommend a trip to the markets, Monte Alban and if you enjoy walking go to the Expediciones Sierra Norte office and arrange a day or two up in the pueblos Mancomunados.

Stayed here for three nights as a base for touring Oaxaca. The hotel is an exceptionally clean oasis and the staff always friendly and helpful. Sights and restaurants are a ten minute walk at most, yet the hotel is quiet at night. As a single traveller I unfortunately had to pay for a king room as the smaller rooms were full and they do not discount for single occupancy,so possibly not the best value for a single traveller unless you be sure to reserve ahead for a cheaper room. My room was gigantic and bright, with a good shower, comfortable bed/linens and ample storage space. Thicker curtains would help sleep quality in because you are forced to wake with the light, but this seems to be the way throughout Mexico.

There's free wireless, computers and a great kitchen for guest use,and the pool area and courtyard both offer good places to relax. It was too cool for the pool but it would be a real drawcard in the hotter months. Breakfast of fresh fruits, cereal, toast, yoghurt and eggs will set you up for the day. What really makes this place shine is the staff who always greet you with a smile and go out of their way to help with any queries and booking activites. I would highly recommend this hotel. I looked at a few others when I arrived, but came back to this one and was not sorry! I would definitely stay here again and think you can't go wrong if you choose it.

We stayed 2 nights at a highly regarded B&B which unfortunately was full after those nights so we had to move. We looked all over town, probably at 15 different accomodations from modest to luxurious (one of which we stayed at for a night just for fun--about 4 times the cost of Tia Tere) Then we moved on to Casa de la Tia Tere. It is an outstanding little hotel and an amazing value. The rooms are good sized, neat and clean with exceptional closet with shelving. The staff is friendly, exceptionally helpful, and speaks enough English to easily get by. There are 2 computers (gratis) for guest use. Breakfast is good, ample, though not gourmet. The location is easily walkable to downtown and the area decent, though hardly upscale. My security conscious companion was perfectly comfortable at all hours, including walking back there well after dark. There are two terraces, one on the roof top. We had "happy hour" by ourselves up there every afternoon with a panoramic 360 degree view of gorgeous sunsets.

First I would like to say that I found this wonderful hotel by using the reviews on tripadvisor.com. It not only lived up to my expectations, but far exceeded them. A very clean, quiet (except on busy weekends) and well run hotel. The staff are excellent, and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a peaceful, safe oasis in a sometimes hectic city. Ultra safe for women traveling alone, and great for families because of the pool.

My friends and I decided to stay here while visiting the town for a wedding. The staff was wonderful to our large group, even making an early breakfast for us on our last day. The hotel is well-kept with a nice courtyard for hanging out during breakfast, a lush pool area for getting some sun, and a secluded balcony/patio for drinking Mezcal and watching the sunset. The rooms are sparse but clean. Mine didn't have A/C, but had a fan which was all that was needed. My room didn't get the morning sun, making it easy to sleep late. (Some of my friends were not so lucky.) The ladies who run the place were always nice and helpful. Plus the hotel is within easy walking distance of the town center and most major sites. I would highly recommend this place.

Well located, just east of the central pedestrianised area (i.e. quiet but walking distance). Dark central breakfast courtyard, but light, bright rooms with wonderful local furniture. Pleasant poolside and calm reception staff. Would stay here again.
