Thoroughly enjoyable stay of 10 nights at this lovely B&B in the historic city center of Oaxaca. We had one of the small rooms with full/queen bed, large closet and private bath with shower. It was kept spotlessly clean and linens were refreshed frequently. Eggs were available every day if desired, and made to order. Two cereals, 3 fresh fruits, toasted rolls, butter and jam, coffee and tea were staples. The hotel includes a skylight covered patio as well as a lovely pool area with garden. The hotel manager, Rocio Dominguez, was a great help with any information or assistance we needed, and our cook/housekeeper Rosa shared some of her recipes with me. I do speak Spanish, so this was helpful, though many other satisfied guests had only basic speaking knowledge. I highly recommend a stay here as it is in close walking distance to the Zocalo and not far from other central attractions.

Room Tip: "Cama matrimonial" indicates full/queen bed--standard American queen-size.

This B & B was a pleasant surprise. Family owned for many years, obviously with pride in what they offer. Large colorfull room facing a courtyard. Nice views from the third florr. There is a great swimming pool and sun lounging area, a rareity with Oaxaca B & B's. Good wireless internet connection. Nice breakfast. Very friendly staff. The location is not perfect. Off on a side street maybe six blocks from the historical district. If you are physically able to walk this is no problem. Overall, this iplace is better value than many others we have seen in Oaxaca.

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms are quieter and have better views.

we showed up with no reservation, and were treated to a comfortable, clean room, moments later. The door and one window face the courtyard, and the other faced the pool are so we have nice ventilation. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The two computers a welcome relief as my blackberry had no service!

A delightful gem for two BFFs on a road trip.

Like most places in Oaxaca, the rooms are arranged around a courtyard. The problem is that sound carries and echos in the courtyard. We were on the first floor and stayed 2 nights. The first morning there was quite a bit of loud talking and laughing from the kitchen which woke us up around 7pm. There is a communal breakfast but this seemed to be the staff. The next morning a family with a very bratty kid woke us up at the crack of dawn and continued to make a racket for the next 2 hours. The kid was so loud and no one seemed to care. On the other hand, the staff was really helpful and pleasant. Our room was large and very clean. The breakfast is good. The hotel is nicely decorated and provides a few free computer stations. The walk to the zocolo is a little long but okay. Ultimately it may have just been bad timing for us because I did not read other reviews about the sound level.

Lovely little hotel, with all the basic things you need for a stay in Oaxaca, plus an incredibly warm and caring service and a small nice swimming pool. The rooms are 100% clean and quite comfortable, although the decoration is not exactly avant-garde. The value for your money is amazing, and a healthy balanced breakfast including eggs, cereals and fruits is included. It's my favorite place in Oaxaca, especially for the amazing service, the value for your money and the employees, who treat you like family.

Overall Casa de la Tia Tere is a decent choice to stay in Oaxaca. Service was excellent, the rooms were very clean and having a pool to come back to at the end of the day was nice.

Bear in mind that most of the rooms have no windows that face the exterior, they only face the inner courtyard where breakfast is served. We were lucky that we faced the pool and we had small doorway that opened which let light and fresh air in. If we had a room that had no exterior window I don't think I would have enjoyed my stay as much. Also be warned, the beds are very hard.

The location is only a slight drawback, yes it is about a 10-12 minute walk to the Zocalo but really, it wasn't that bad. Some days we even did it three times. Walking back at night was fine too.

My wife and I spend a week at the adorable little Casa de la Tia Tere in Oaxaca. It's a few blocks (3) off the city center so it's much quieter. And it has a pool, we love that fact at about 4pm each day after hours of pounding the cobble stones, visiting museums and haggling our way through the markets of this adorable little city.

The rooms are not large, but bigger than many in the city and most importantly, simple and clean. We were on the third floor in the "Begonia" suite and it was the best view in the entire hotel.

The staff is so sincere it feels more like your staying at a friend's house than a hotel. The B&B breakfast is delightful. Plus you have a supermarket and the Mercado de La Merced within a block or two for great prices on essentials and snacks for visitors staying more than a few days.

For the price you won't do better than this little gem. My wife and I loved it!
