“Nice but a little noisy”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

This is a nice B&B. Choose the rooms upstairs which are more luminous. The breakfast is really fantastic and is served in a large colonial dining room by a very friendly staff. The place is very clean. Unfortunately it is located near a very busy street, One way uphill, and trucks and buses in l'os gear are very noisy.

I could not say enough great things about this place! The staff are so lovely and welcoming! The building itself is stunning (upstairs terrace for wine and cheese and a sunset is a must). The breakfast was a highlight of my entire Oaxaca trip; it's traditional, perfect amount of food, and so delicious! Rufina is an incredible cook! This place is a must for Oaxaca! I miss it already!

If you want to enjoy Oaxaca and sample its treats, this is the place to stay. First it is a wonderful house and you have the run of it. You are not guests in somebodies home. Yet every morning the owner Rene Cabrera arrives for breakfast to ensure that his guests receive his best advice on how to achieve their needs. Where to eat, where to visit, what to do; he has all the answers.

If you want to have it all I highly recommend the special offer of 8 days that includes 4 days of touring the nearby treasures. Meet Oaxaca's finest artisans, see how they produce their beautiful wares. Rene takes you inside their homes as they demonstrate their skills. He takes you to market towns and shows you how to sample their fares. What is safe to eat and what is not. Try the chapulinas (grasshoppers). As a licensed guide he explains the wonders of the Zapotec ruins at Mitla, Atzompa and the magnificent Monte Alban. He drives you everywhere in his air conditioned car.

The house has three bedrooms with en suite facilities and include terraces and rooms with plenty of space to stretch out. Violeta and Rafa make local breakfast specialities, every day something different, and they do all the housekeeping. Renato will pick you up at the airport and handle any extra needs you have, with cheerful English fluency. The Cabrera family owns three B&B's all well located and professionally run. Walk to everywhere from any of them. Whether you are an experienced Mexico traveller, or a first timer, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Angeles is on the ground floor and has easy access to the kitchen and the refrigerator for that beer...

Everything about this B&B is perfect. The house is beautiful, spacious, relaxed, light and peaceful. We were in Oaxaca for 4 days during the Guelaguetza festival and the city was absolutely bursting at the seams with people from all over the state, and in fact, the country. There was such an amazing vibe, 24 hours a day. The staff member who first greeted us on our arrival (Renaldo?) was warm and inviting, and made us feel like the house was ours. Breakfast was divine, served each day at a communal kitchen/dining table, where we enjoyed meeting other happy and helpful guests. Our room was perfect, with ceiling fan which was great for sleeping on warm evenings, and good airconditioning to cool the room down after the hot day. Plus plenty of storage and cupboard space; and a hot well-pressured shower. The lovely rooftop terrace is perfect for a relaxing drink after a busy day out exploring, and we were lucky to watch a massive full moon rising over the bustling town one of our nights there.
This place is a wonderful sanctuary from which to escape the busy Oaxacan city streets, and to recharge your batteries before heading out for more! Will definitely stay here next time we come to beautiful Oaxaca.

Room Tip: El Cielo suite - upstairs and furthest along corridor - beautiful, comfortable room with everything...

My husband and I stayed at Milagros while in Oaxaca for a wedding. We could not have stayed at a better place. Breakfast every morning was utterly delicious and the room was supremely comfortable. Additionally, the roof-top patio offers a nice place to enjoy a sunset or sunrise for that matter. Fantastic!

Room Tip: We stayed in El Cielo and it was lovely.

Our recent stay at Casa de Los Milagros was beyond excellent. It was like coming home for the weekend. Rene was full of knowledge and gave us excellent tips for our outings around Oaxaca. The breakfasts were beautifully prepared and were delicious and healthy. The walking distance to the center of town was the best. A home away from home.

This Bed and Breakfast is exemplary among B&Bs. Rene and Adriana are excellent hosts. The house itself is very Mexican, centered around an inner courtyard. Step through the door and you leave Oaxaca behind and are in your own little secluded environment. Intimate as it has only three rooms and one giant kitchen were breakfast is spot on. Well located for walking to all the major sites in Oaxaca. Rene is also a food lover and guided us to both the trendy and hidden restaurants that only a local would know about. As mentioned by others there extended family works in the tourist industry, so it gets you in the door at many places, such as the cooking class with the sister-in-law. We normally don't post in Trip Advisor but use our own website to talk about the cream of the crop on our world travels. But this place was worth mentioning so we thought we let others know. It really comes down to one description, it's like visiting family without the complicated history.
