“Great Location”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

The location is perfect, close to most all points of interest in Oaxaca. The hotel offers a shared (bathroom) accommodation as well as a typical hotel room with a private bathroom. I've stayed in both, but will only review the room with bath, as this is my preference. Its not a high luxury environment, but offers many pluses. The staff and customer service are excellent. The customer service area includes a large/secure storage area for valuables (computers, art, rugs, whatever, etc). The common areas are relaxing and well maintained and offer many seating options (tables with chairs), seating for 2, etc.
The rooms are immaculate and relatively inexpensive. Big screen TV is more than adequate and the bedside phone is a nice convenience. The only drawback is the spotty WiFi internet connection. The service functions, but is not accessible (from the rooms I've stayed in). I was told (by another guest) that the walls in the rooms were to dense to enable the signal to pass through, the internet access works fine from the common area locations closer towards the front of the hotel.

We spent 9 nights at the Posada. The wonderful staff and owner accommodated our changing plans. We were there during Guelaguetza, a huge festival held every July, so when we suddenly needed extra nights, we had to move from our big second floor room to a smaller one, and then to a third, but they always found a way to make space for us. All three rooms were very clean and comfortable. In addition, when my husband got la turista, the staff gave us camomile tea and baked apple slices! The flower encircled courtyard offered us a chance to meet some of the other interesting guests, while enjoying free cookies coffee in the morning. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: Don't take the end room on the second floor next to the patio, because that's ours!

My husband and I spent 5 days in this lovely Posada! So clean, comfortable and cosy!! It was high season but the very friendly staff let us to make a good deal for the smallest room they had! Even small it was perfect for us!!! We used the shared bathroom which was very clean with good hot showers! Room is cleaned daily and towels are changed. They offer free water and free coffee with cookies in the morning. The patio is perfect for a chat or a drink at night! And really close to the Zocalo. We left the hotel and spent 4 days hiking and they were great to let our stuff in the hotel for any charge!!!! The price is not high and fair for what they offer!! We definitely recommend it!!

Very nice hotel (and cheap in low season) in the center of Oaxaca, close to Zocalo, and not too far from the market, Santo Domingo church or buses for Monte Alban (Calle Mina), and colectivos for 1st class bus terminal pass nearby. We paid 300 pesos for a huge room -a double bed plus a single one, very very comfortable too- with impossibly high ceiling, awesome value. There is a free water and coffee, and rooms are cleaned daily. The shared bathrooms were also clean, with hot showers. The staff was fairly friendly. Wifi didn't reach our room (n.11) too well, but it was ok in the patio.
The patio was our only problem - it was quiet at night (from 10 or 11 pm) but starting early morning we could hear people talking, as if they were in our room. And as the hotel has many people working there, there is always somebody around chatting, so forget about your afternoon nap. I guees the rooms with private bathroom don't have this problem as they have a separate patio and nobody was hanging out there. But they cost more than twice as much...

Go eat at the market (Calle 29 de noviembre, between Aldama and Mina), the foodcourt is fabulous. Our favorite place was comedor Chabelita (when you enter from Aldama street, it's on the far left side), the tlayudas were great!
And for good and cheap tortas, try Mercado Sanchez Pascuas, above Santo Domingo Temple.

Room Tip: Get a room as far from the street and from the reception as you can, or it might be hard to sleep (r...

We stayed in Posada del Centro in January 2013 and found it to be a lovely place to stay. It was very clean, comfortable with helpful staff. We had the room right off the roof deck which was a great place to hang out. The man at the front desk (owner?) was warm and friendly and definitely contributed to a pleasant stay. The location, near the zocalo, is also close to everything. I would definitely recommend this hotel. (Most of the hot water is from solar - also a plus).

Room Tip: upstairs off the roof deck

Very simple.. but spotless and I must say the best beds I slept on during my vacation to the State of Oaxaca and this was the cheapest room I paid for. They are extremely accomodating .. and the location CANNOT be beat !!!

We went to this hotel because of the reviews on trip advisor. We liked it. It's quite a simple place and the room we initially had (12) was small with a lot of light at night and noisy, with no hot water. We asked about the water and were moved to a much more beautiful room (15) when they couldn't fix it for us. The staff were very friendly and the morning coffee was very good. Close by the center, but far enough out to feel like a local (only 3 blocks, but it made a nice difference). Would return.

Room Tip: Look at your room first :)
