“Clean and Pleasant Room for a Couple of Nights”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

I stayed on the ground floor near the desk which is not the quietest of areas but I slept well. The room was clean and the front desk people were both friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a near-perfect location. It is a safe area of town with access to all of the major tourists spots within an easy strolling distance. Excellent restaurants are nearby.

We had reservations for this hotel for December 2013. Our flights were cancelled, I contacted booking.com and as they were non cancel able, I wanted to see if hotel would honor hen our flights resumed. I was told Juan at hotel stated No. Received additional call and was told yes they would honor. Unfortunately, now the hotel does not respond to emails and booking.com is no assistance either. Sad, as I have been traveling to this city for over 25 years.

The hotel is a few blocks from the Zocalo and the Andador pedestrian street. The building has a nice colonial feel. The hotel has a small pool, but it's unheated and was very cold when we visited in late March. Fortunately the Quinta Real hotel let us use their pool for MX$350 for adults and MX$150 for kids. Our room's windows opened into a interior air shaft, which echoed noises from above. Several times sound from a loud compressor on the roof made sleeping in our room impossible. One of the staff spoke English, but all were friendly and helpful. The wifi was a bit slow, but worked fine.

We stayed 2 nights with our group of 30 passengers from Scandinavia. The location is good near the Zogalo. The hotel is nice but a little bit aged. The WC and toilet room had some old-fashioned solutions. There was very limited space for your clothes. They had to be kept in your suitcase. No proper ventilation in the room, the only direction in room 219 was to the garage. TV was very old. Modest buffet-type breakfast.

Room Tip: Do not take a room facing the garage!

Very nice, clean hotel. Swimming pool not heated and did not get much sun so water very cold
Friendly staff however close proximity to parking garage next door can make for some very noisy nights with people coming and going and talking loudly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook the parking garage next door.

This is really and average aging hotel that is kept very clean, It has a small pool and the hotel itself is in a colonial building, what truly stands out is it's location 3 short blocks to the zocalo and 1 block to the pedestrian alcala can't be beat especially in a walking city. It's a bit noisy and the friendly staff does not speak english but I'd definitely stay here again!

This is a very beautiful hotel that gives you the real feeling of a fine traditional hotel. We left the way more expensive sleek and modern Holiday inn to stay here. The Oaxaca Real has their own restaurant that is also open to the public. It has wonderful authentic Oaxacan comida. You can ask for a special discount and they are very accommodating...you can ask to skip breakfast and they give a discount...but they offer American and typical Oaxacan breakfasts including coffee or juice or tea and the inclusive price is great. They are only three blocks away from the Zocalo and very close to everything. Right now they have mostly Mexico City guests and Europeans and they are normally not too busy. Almost half price from the holiday inn.. I'm American and I loved it.
