Itanoni has a passion for local, native corn and they have the most outstanding tortillias in Oaxaca. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. I only go when I can get there before noon so that the breakfast menu is still available. Favorites are the tinga Tacos and the 3 tostadas. My friends are hooked on the egg platters. open Sundays. Best to take a taxi from the Centro - 40 pesos. you can walk right out of the restaurant about four blocks to the end of the road and catch a city bus to return, or walk.

This place for lunch only...closes at 4pm is as good as everyone says!
Please take a dictionary with you, as there is no wifi.
Totally recommend as the foodie destination of Oaxaca!

It's hard to find authentic, village-style tortillas unless you go to an actual village. Itanoni makes them, although with better corn. Here you will tortillas made from a variety of corns. The place is very casual and doesn't serve complex meals, but what it does serve it does very well. The tacos are great (because of the tortillas!) and there is a magnificent variety of salsas to go with them.

I walked to this place with some friends, but maybe you want to take a taxi. It's not far, but street signs aren't easy to find outside of the Centro.
The food here was amazing. Come with friends that way you can order more things. They're all small plates. You can watch the women make the tortillas and the food, which is cool. I definitely recommend washing it all down with some agua jamaica.
I made a little video, if you want to check it out:
