Templo Santo Domingo is the single most important attraction that you just CANNOT miss while you are touring Oaxaca City, my home for a while, as I get my teeth and my stomach worked on. The ornate baroque facade is HUGE and imposing and is used to project gigantic nighttime light shows during the Guelaguetza Indian dance festival in mid-July, which draws Indian tribes from all over the vast state of Oaxaca (it's the size of Arizona), as well as luring travelers from all over the world. Now we are getting ready to observe The Day of the Dead here on November 2. It is an extended Halloween celebration, featuring great costumes, dances, music and fireworks, and lots of tasty food and drinks! You should not miss it! Come and join us! You just won't believe the gold, gems, statues and paintings all over the inside of the church. St. Mark and many of the other statues seem like real people. Unbelievable!
