“Calm and tranquil”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2012

The Basilica de la Soledad is a peaceful retreat from the hubbub of the city.
Inside one can find the patron saint of Oaxaca, the Virgin of Soledad. There is a little museum next door which is fun to visit as well. On the plaza before entering the basilica are ice cream stands that sell nieves in all different flavors. This area has been remodeled and it's a great place to hang out and enjoy the day!

“Stunning at night”

The basilica is well maintained. It is also a cultural center. There is a thriving street food scene around the basilica.

“Huge beautiful church”

surrounded by two very large court yards. In one at 8am every weekday morning the municipal police meet to start their day with a marching band and receive their orders. Fun to watch.
