“The most enthralling ruin I've seen of a very many.”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Magical, huge, sprawling, high up, coherent, never destroyed by Cortes. The sheer massiveness with pyramid -style stairs connecting zones and ball parks bring alive what tthe size of this city was. Go early before it gets too hot.

“Facinating Archaeological Site”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

This is a wonderfully well restored site of great historical interest. Apart from everything else there are magnificent views from the man-made plateau on which it was built. You need a good two hours to explore everything (with or without the help of the ubiquitous guides). The only slight disappointment is the museum, which has only one or two important pieces - the rest are in the museum in Oaxaca in the valley below.

Highly recommended.

“Must see Monte Alban”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

I cannot emphasize enough what an amazing experience it was to visit Monte Alban. These indigenous ruins/temples are in pristine shape. We visited at sunset, so there were not crowds and the lighting was so nice. The pictures I took tell a story that impresses, for sure. Just about 20 minutes outside of Oaxaca. You'll be glad you went. All ages will love it.

“Breathtaking Monte Alban”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Monte Alban is just a short trip from Oaxaca and can be done by public transportation. You are issued a ticket which allows you to spend 3 or 4 hours on the site. The scenery is breathtaking, the view across the valley beautiful, the architecture fascinating. I loved the quiet and magical atmosphere of the ancient ground.

“Don't miss it”

This is a great place to visit to see ruins. It is a large site with a small informative museum. Be sure to get a guide.
