“Modern clean hotel, great location”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

Not a very traditional hotel but very clean and in a quiet residential area about five minutes walk from the main street. Nice swimming pool (although in the shade). Lovely breakfast including fresh pastries, muffins, traditional Oaxacan hot chocolate and fresh fruit. Manager is also often about at breakfast and is very chatty with guests. Spacious, clean air conditioned bedrooms. Friendly, English speaking staff at the hotel desk however ironically the hotel tour operator speaks no English at all.

I've stayed in this hotel at least 8 times over the last 10 years or so. It's very comfortable, in a quiet residential location, with a staff that tries to please. The manager goes out of his way to accommodate the needs of the guests. The rooms are large, with heating and air conditioning...not always found in Oaxaca hotels. Also included in the room charge is a complete breakfast, and on site free parking. It's hard to beat the value of this hotel.

We booked into here for two nights at short notice over Christmas and got a deal on a Suite. Although it's an Express rather than a full blown Holiday Inn it was well run, the staff were well spoken, polite and efficient. The Suite was in a quiet part of the building and was superb. The location is a short walk away from the Zocalo, but it is a pleasant walk past various historic areas. The breakfast buffet is adequate and the service is excellent.

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel for a week, (Dec 31, 2013 - Jan 7, 2014) as a celebration honoring an important milestone. The location was excellent: easy walking to the historic center, but far enough to be quiet. Service was good. Special requests were cheerfully accommodated. Beds, pillows, bathroom and separate shower were excellent. The hotel breakfast was generous and included Mexican food along with regular North American style cereal and rolls. Coffee was OK, but nothing special. Lactose free milk was available. Our room was quiet, as we faced the back. Wifi is free and speedy. We think the hotel is excellent value for the money.

I didn't expect the building to be so attractive from the outside. It is away from the noise of the centre of Oaxaca but within easy walking distance of Santa Domingo and even the Zocalo. Spacious rooms, very quiet. Carlos, the man in charge, is very helpful and professional, greeting everyone and even pouring coffee at breakfast when it's busy. His staff all take a lead from him. We stayed 10 days and enjoyed it. Nice buffet breakfast.

I stayed at this hotel again for the fourth time. Everything was perfect. Great location close to parks and restaurants and just a short walk to main attractions like Santo Domingo and museums. The business center computers and the WIFI service work perfectly. There is a small exercise room with all cardio machines. Pool area looks nice, I have never been in. I would say that there was a happy mix of business travelers such as my self and plenty of families on vacation. The hotel was at capacity and there was never a problem with hot water or housekeeping. Complementry Breakfast is always good. I hired a driver from the tour agency located in the hotel lobby for the first time and used two different drivers over 4 days. Both were excellent and i highly recomend them. I have gotten to know Carlos the general manager over my stays. The holiday inn organization should utilize him to train their other GM's. He would be right at home directing the finest hotel in New York City. The staff is excellent. My only very minor suggestion for the hotel would be to add more english language tv Chanel's. Thanks again Carlos and staff. I am looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: Use the guide/tour service located in the lobby. Very reasionably priced. Excellent staff and owne...

Personalized service. The city is full of hotel offerings run by locally owned businesses. For those that don't know, the holiday inn chain is owned by IHG, a huge hotel corporation owned in large part by Chinese. So why support Chinese in Oaxaca when there is so much good to be done by supporting local business and thus the local economy?
The room I was given was way at the far end of the hotel. It took five minutes or so for hot water to come out of the shower and the bathroom in General was not well laid out. The free in room coffee tasted horrible- and I consider myself to be a coffee aficionado.
The only saving grace was the morning breakfast staff. Breakfast was better than at holiday inns in the states.
