“Great people watching spot”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

We were there for the Dias De Los Muertes Celebration and the zocalo was none stop action. We thought after the celebration, that activities would slow down. This is certainly not the reality. This place is non stop action and the potato chips made on the spot at a must to try as is the hot chocolate.

“People don't leave us alone”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Although the Zocalo was a lovely place to visit, it was difficult to enjoy it because there were people everywhere begging, selling and busking and we couldnt get any peace.

“Where the people gather”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Crowded, noisy, colorful and fun. The Zocolo is the central gathering place of Oaxaca City so you get to see all different types of people. There is some touristy shopping and some local shops, restaurants are around the edge. But it's a great place to people watch day or night. Look for the guys making the fresh potato chips. You've never had anything better!

“The heart of old Oaxaca”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

This is a pretty and lively square at the heart of Oaxaca. There seems to be something going on at all times of the day and night. There is lots of live music. There are reasonable cafeterias and restaurants on all sides of the square, which are great places to watch the world go by. There are large numbers of vendors but in my experience none of them were a problem and a polite no gracias was sufficient.

If you like to see lots of people enjoying their city and the outdoors, you do want to visit the Zocolo. It truly is the heart of the city.
