“Food!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

Lots of food and sight seeing. Every time you visit Mexico (country) try and go to the local city's zocalos. You'll find all the town's life there.

“The Zocalo is the best attraction in Oaxaca”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

For me, the Zocalo is the best 'attraction' in Oaxaca city. It is the place for families, visitors and locals to stroll, listen to music, be totally entertained by other people and enjoy good food. The Zocalo is a large plaza with tall, beautiful shade trees, flower gardens and a gazebo in the center, of course. There are many cafes skirting the sides to choose from, next to the pedestrian areas and on second floor balconies. The movement and continual action are most entertaining and relaxing. When I dream of Oaxaca, it is of this beautiful place.

“Ideal spot to pass some time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is the place to see Mexico at its finest. Families out enjoying life, couples of all ages dancing to live music, musicians of every ilk serenading, people getting their shoes shined, friends talking while sitting in the shade of the large trees, people selling trinkets. Worth going to Oaxaca just to sit in the zocolo!

“action central, the main square”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

It is where the Oaxacans go to meet and wander.
Kids, balloons, music, treats, with multiple restaurants and outdoor seating. We chose La Casa de la Abuela, seated one floor up above the square all is visible.

“Of course this is wonderful...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

...just get a table at one of the restaurants that has a balcony on the second floor so that you can enjoy the scenery without the hassle of street vendors! Also, try some ice cream from the little shop on the corner - delicious!
