“The heart of Oaxaca”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

This was the best Zocalo that we visited. It does not have traffic which is a benefit. There was always some music going on there and there are plenty of cafes / restaurants around the edge from which you can watch the world go round. If sitting there you will have a stream of people come by wanting to sell things but it is all good natured - buy if you want to and people will be happy but not offended if you do not.

“Watch the world go by”

Great hang out for people watching in Oaxaca. Lots of cafes to linger over drinks, dinner, or just coffee. You'll see sellers of artesanian goods, listen to many different types of musicians, and just watch people, families, and tourists going by.

“The Zocalo is Where Everything is Happening!”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

For us, there was no time - day or night - that the Zocalo wasn't thriving. A beautiful church, many stalls selling whatever you're looking for, rimmed with cafes and restaurants, music everywhere, people of all ages enjoying each other and this beautiful square.

“music, movement!”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

A really active zocalo, something going on all the time. Heard music, saw dancing, interesting vendors, political rallies, you name it, it went on. Lots and lots of people, restaurants all around. Great place to wander thru in the evening.
