First Lorena takes very good care of her guests and the breakfast is amazing every morning.
It's very close to the Church and center but nice and quiet. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and was not disappointed. The rooms has A/C and Lorena will help you plan any day trips and call your cars for you too if you need. Over all it was a perfect place to stay.

This B & B is well located near the Santa Domingo Monastery and many wonderful restaurants. Lorena and her staff did everything possible to ensure we had a good time. The breakfasts were varied and delicious. It's true the rooms are not large, but there are armoires in each room to accomodate suitcases. We had three large suitcases and were able to put them all either on top of or under an armoire, and on a suitcase stand, so it was not an issue. Each room has a balcony and private bath. We spent 3 nights at the Four Seasons in Mexico City and four nights here, we enjoyed this experience every bit as much. It is run by a Oaxacan family who will gladly teach you about the city, the culture and its people. We would stay here again and plan to come back.

Room Tip: All rooms are similar.

Given that we were traveling with our 2 year-old, we found few B&Bs willing to accommodate our stay. From our initial communications with Lorena via email to our three day, three night stay at Estancia de Valencia, she and her staff were wonderfully welcoming, accommodating, and helpful at every turn.
The house itself is charming. Our room, though not big, was very comfortable and clean, with a very cute balcony. Our son slept on a little futon Lorena provided and it worked well. We found the location to be perfect -- just removed enough to feel like you got to experience a neighborhood a bit off the beaten path, while only a short walk to the center of things. A plus for us, the B&B is near two parks in which our son could chase pigeons.
The breakfasts were solid, but not incredible. The traditional food was all made by hand with a lot of love. Fresh fruit and pastries were always provided. There was also never a shortage of fresh OJ. The cook also, without prompting, provided kid-friendly breakfasts for our son. Though we hardly took advantage of it, the B&B offers a decently stocked bar with water, beer, wine, liquors, and sodas. The staff also welcomed our use of the main refrigerator (to store leftovers or milk, etc.).
After staying in Camino Real for our first few nights, this B&B was a welcome change of pace. More relaxed and more personal (and certainly more affordable!). We would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: One of them -- not the one we stayed in -- has a huge balcony. It costs a bit more, but if you want...

we were not very happy with our stay. There are 3 guest rooms which are very small (there is no room to put the suitcases other than the floor, so you have to step over them, everytime you want to use the washroom). We were given a choice out of the 3 and we chose the most "spacious" which was still quite small.True, you can use the dowstairs living room, and at the time of our stay no one else was there.
The owner, who speaks some English, does not have the kind of up-to-date information about the attractions in town and the opening hours.(she actually gave us some wrong information rather than say she does not know.).The location is not the best, it is on the outskirts of the old town, closer to the bus depot.
I would not recommend this place , unless you don't mind small quarters

We were in Oaxaca in 2005 and stayed in one of the better known B&Bs near the Santa Domingo Cathedral. It was great and we had a wonderful time. However, in planning this trip for February 2013, we started a little late and that B&B was full. Soooo, we started looking and we certainly lucked out. Estancia de Valencia is a wonderful, wonderful find - we like it even better than the original place we stayed! Much better!

Lorena and her husband are gracious and welcoming to their beautiful, three-bedroom home-away-from-home. They were there to greet us (weary and rumpled from a long flight) and we immediately felt right at home. The house itself is beautiful and just a few blocks from the Santa Domingo Cathedral. There is a beautiful courtyard with a lovely fountain trickling through to make the entire scene peaceful and soothing. Since Lorena and her husband live nearby, she gave us her cell phone number and told us to call anytime. Lorena would arrive every morning to make sure that we had everything we needed and oversee our amazing breakfast. Beautiful table settings, inventive dishes and just an all-round terrific breakfast every morning.

The house has excellent wi-fi (and a computer to use in the living room if you didn't bring one). The coffee pot is set up and ready to go every night so that when we early risers get up - all we have to do is push the button.

Our room was lovely with a little balcony overlooking the courtyard. It was cleaned daily and, by the way, the entire house was spotless.

A couple of excellent restaurants are nearby - one of them is El Quinque. Across the street from El Quinque - an amazing little hole-in-the-wall cooking delicious churros fresh to order!

I can't say enough about what a wonderufl week-long stay we have had at this very special place. Come if you can - but don't tell anyone else about this little secret find!

A group of 5 of us friends stayed at Estancia de Valencia together for a few nights scattered throughout a week on our way to and from other parts of Mexico. Lorena was very accomodating, allowing us to store extra baggage while we traveled, making breakfast on a morning when we arrived from an overnight bus trip, all the while being friendly and truly making us feel at home.

The house itself is beautiful, with balconies off each room and a spacious kitchen and living room. The meals were incredible with authentic Oaxacan cuisine for breakfast including Oaxacan hot chocolate! Lorena had incredible attention to detail and the place is immaculate.

The location was close enough to the center to walk there easily, but also a little outside of the congested touristy area.

We highly recommend this place!

My wife and I visited Oaxaca for a wedding and we stayed at Estancia de Valencia for four nights. What an amazing B&B! They only have 3 rooms so it feels very private. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well every night. The house is beautiful with a nice, big living/dining room that opens up to a lovely little courtyard. You are in a quiet neighborhood near multiple public parks and within easy walking distance to many of the sights, museums, markets, and good restaurants of Oaxaca.

Part of what made our stay in Oaxaca so special was the proprietor, Lorena. From the minute we walked in we felt welcome and at home. She is a fantastic host and all of her recommendations for stuff to do in and around town were excellent. Plus, Lorena's generous breakfasts were some of the best meals we had while in Oaxaca. They are quite filling and we found that we didn't really need much until dinner.

We can't to come back to Oaxaca again and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else!
