“Great Hostel”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

One of the best hostels in Mexico. The staff are very friendly and helpful there are great common areas and everything is very secure. The location is handy to town and the bus terminal so you dont need a taxi. The showers are excellent and they include towels and soap etc in the price. Everything here is done very well, does get a little hot sometimes but this is a minor complaint.

Arrived late at night and picked Don Nino because it was close to the (long distance) bus station. So pleased we did - welcomed by the friendliest night porter I've ever met and very well looked after throughout the stay. The breakfasts are generous, the cable channels are extensive (and good for a bit of brain rest after pounding the streets / villages), the fans are effective and the garden at the back is very peaceful. It is on a lovely square with a Friday market and if the sound of bells from the nearby church is likely to bother you, take earplugs. Wholeheartedly recommended.

I stayed there for 3 nights and people were friendly and the place is very very clean. All day long ladies are busy cleaning..
They prepare a towel, shampoo, conditioner and bodywasher for you.
So you don't need anything there.
Every morning they serve good meal with friut, egg, beans, coffee, cereal..ect..
Bed and blanket are clean and warm enough. Each bed has a night light so you won't bother other people to wake up at night
Also, the location is close to ADO bus station so you don't have to take a taxi. And, if you can just walk about 5~10mins, you can reach anywhere you want.
One thing I was a bit disappointed is that you have to pay for taking shower including using the internet after check out (50 pesos) / and if you need to do the laundary, it costs 40pesos/kg.

Room Tip: Any rooms are good even 12-bedroom is also perfect to stay.

it is nice place, near the bus station, park and very relaxing for me during my travel.
I booked the private single, included hot shower, soap, towel, bottled water, air condition, free wifi and breadfast. And it was quiet in the area. In this block, the convinent store was found around the park and the HSBC was also noted. Of course the best rate of currency in mexico is bank(USD:mex 1:11.65), not in the hostel(USD: mex 1: 11). THe hostel is also included restaurant.

I was travelling 5 months in Central America and I slept in diffrent places and I can sy honesty that the Hostel Don Nino is wonderfull. I don't know why its called hostel, because I've seen a lot of hotels that do not grow up to the heels. I use dormitorium for 4 person. Everything was so clean and nice. The staff in hostel was very kind and helpful. I arrived at 8 am and check in is normally for 12 o 2pm, but the man i recepcion told me that I could go to my room at 8am.
Also breakfast was really good. Apart of cereales with milk and toast with jam or butter, every day it was possible order something else: omelette, enchilades and other food.
The best place in Oxaca and all Central America!

It is quite a bit out of the strict center (15-20 min walk), but road takes you through entire pedestrian zone and over a park with many places to eat. It is just a few minutes from bus station, so in ideal location if you ask me. Place is superbly clean and neat. I normally always book singles but Oaxaca was packed due to Semana Santa so I was forced to try a dorm for the first time in my life - I was feeling uncomfortable about it, but ended up really enjoying the experience. Everything was handy and usable - lockers, showers, internet. The best thing about the place is how it is superbly organized. I'd return for sure.

This hostel is worth paying extra for! It's absolutely awesome. Very clean and safe, loads of showers with free soap, shampoo and conditioners. Rooms are great, beds are made every day and you can store your valuables in large lockers. Every bed has an individual light, so you dont have to wake up everyone coming back from a late night out.

As hang out areas, terrace is great (you can also make your own food here). My favorite hang out area is beanbags in front of a large TV. This hostel has a large library of movies, that you can watch with your new friends!

The staff is amazing, they are very kind and helpful. In several situations they have been understanding and made exemptions to make our stay very satisfactory.

Minus: very unstable Internet, not possible to upload a video on FB or have a Skype conversation. Although the location is good, it is a little bit far away from zocalo compared to most other hostels.

Also, as a suggestion to this hostel, would be hammocks on the terrace!!
