The mole negro was incredible. This restaurant is located on the second floor overlooking the Zocalo. It is quite and an all around excellent restaurant.

A menu filled with local treats, cooked and presented very well. We went a second time to try some different dishes. The four mole plate is a must.

We asked where we were staying if they could recommend a restaurant where we could get a simple, but good Oaxacan dinner. They suggested Casa Abuela. We sat at a window table and that night the symphony was doing a concert in the square just below, so it was lovely. We both had the four mole plate and the food was great. Simple, but not elegant presentation of good local food. If you want it elegant go someplace else, but if you want really good food at a reasonable price this is the place for you.

The three of us wanted mole, and this is where our hotel sent us. Right near the zocalo, upstairs, and we were seated immediately by a window. We each had a different dinner, and each had a different sauce. Spectaculario!

Excellent service, friendly staff, well worth looking for!

The location of the restaurant is great- right by the zocalo. I was served immediately, and had wonderful, polite service. The sopa de tortilla was delicious, and the tlayuda was yummy as well. Be careful because a tlayuda is really big and meant to be shared! :)
